How to keep stuff from sliding around in yer trunk
« on: July 13, 2013, 03:25:28 PM »
I don't normally run my trunk but I have been lately with mama with me, it always bugged me that stuff would slide around in there because of the slick plastic bottom. The other day I picked up some beers from the store on the way home from work and almost every corner I could literally feel it moving from side to side...  :o >:(

I know some trunks have an optional rubber piece to put in there but it seems they don't make one for the Kawi 47 trunk, so I made one myself today and it only cost me $4 for a piece of grooved rubber sheet from the hardware store.  :)

I started by putting some newspaper in the trunk and then with a pen traced the inside flat bottom part, you can feel where the side angles start with your finger. Then I cut that out and traced onto a piece of cardboard, I used last nights pizza box.  :P

Then I laid that on the rubber piece and cut it out with scissors, worked like a charm!

No more slipping n sliding in there, nice and grippy! :chugbeer:

And you choose black as the color of the matt- who would have seen that one coming?

Just wondering, so when I get my Smuggler.

Nope, the smuggler trunk comes lined with carpet, plus not enough space for anything to really move around much in there.  :)

For a trip yes, agreed. But the other day it was just a case of beer in there and nothing else because I was just coming home from work...  :-\

You should have bought more beer.  One can never have enough of that staple.

I see too much black inside the box. It looks a little boring. I think maybe those lid support cables need to be gold.

Definitely gold brocade supports, and maybe a tap-light?  Or would that up the coolness to where it might possibly interfere with the mad pow-ah ZG?

A 12-pack fits in each side case.  ;)
Love going to the grocery for random things.
I've actually had people watch me pack and then stroll by saying, I was wondering how you were gonna carry that!  8)

or you get one of those collapsible/expandable water coolers for your camping store of choice. You know the ones, looks like a bladder with a spigot. Yes, it means drilling a 3/4" hole in the case. Fill that bad boy with brew and now we're talking 20+liters, on tap. throw some ice over for chilling, and the drilled hole is now a drain. When non-liquid cargo, you pop a rubber stopper or plug in and its proper again.
