Transponder battery replacement C14
« on: July 10, 2013, 05:04:18 PM »
I know I have seen this info here before but my search reveals nada. Can a 2032 3v be used instead of the 2025? Thanks in advance.

No, it is too thick. The case will not snap closed with a 2032 in there.

2025's are ubiquitous (word of the day).  You can get them anywhere.  Why would you substitute?

Yes, that's what I put in mine as I had a 2032 lying around.

2032 is much thicker... surprised you would be able to snap it closed properly.

Yeah, mine would not close at all with a 2032 inside. ??

Got the low transponder battery display last week on my 2011.
I bought the bike 3/2012, so I had the bike 14 months, who knows how long before that the battery was installed.
Bought 1 from Staples, replaced it with what the Owners Manual says.

Yeah but the fob has radii on the ends and I am worried about winding the duct tape around it- nothing screams bad craftsmanship like wrinkles in your duct tape....

How strange... just opened mine up, and checked the battery.... a 2032.. and the plastic guides sit taller than the battery so there is no issue with the size.. it sits well inside...  :o

Just a thought... are 2032's in the US made in Texas?  everything is bigger in Texas I'm told   :)

Maybe they changed the battery for the newer models or newer sensors?

Not according to the 2013 owner's manual, which still shows 2025.

Warning:  one may be able to jack around and put the wrong batteries in a flashlight or even use a penny as a fuse, BUT the mad pow-ah of KiPass may not be so forgiving
