Passenger comfort....

Hi all, not a connie owner yet but it's in top 2 choices for next bike. However after a testride 2up today my wife experienced so much turbulence that we had to cut the ride short.I would like to know if any of your passengers ever complained about such discomfort and can it be fixed with an aftermarket screen? Plus we're also looking for aftermarket seat options where the pillion is placed a little higher, slightly sloping backwards, driver remains stock height, non slip material and also pretty much straight pillion part, not a bucket like baldwin or russel for example. Other than screen , seat this bike is a nice surprise. Your replies are truly appreciated, cheers from Montreal, Canada.

There are plenty of threads about different screens and also about 2-up and screens.  The answer is "yes" (from what I read, not from experience- I don't "do" 2-up)

Hi fellow montrealer and welcome.  If you re not to far from where a live, you can come and have a look at mine. Baldwin seat but not the bucket one, CeeBailey screen, Top case with back rest, lowered passenger pegs and semi plateform pegs.

wife will complain about turbulence at higher speed and with moderate wind

The C14 even with a barn door windshield may not get rid of the buffering she is feeling. Personally, I would think long and hard about buying a C14 if the SO is not happy with it.

What about some of the other ST bikes that have more fairing and are more orientated toward two up? Trophy, and RT are two machines I recommend you ride.

I would agree that larger fairing is key to elongating the bubble of protected air for a passenger. A smaller windscreen may even be the solution to reducing the buffeting, and just ride in the less disturbed airstream.

I use a medium CalSci windshield on my 2009 and my wife has no issues. I have both the Sargent and the Corbin. The Corbin places her higher than the stock or Sargent seats. She has no issues with any of them position wise, but prefers the Corbin because it prevents her from sliding forward upon deceleration.  I think the CalSci is a good design, it got rid of the back pressure I experienced and believe that is one reason the passenger is experiencing lees wind and buffeting. There is less wind being forced back towards the rider.

Well that maybe is freaking me out a bit so gotta do some more research on these screens. The Trophy and Beemer is out of the equation .Right now its a toss up between the connie and fjr.

The new FJR has cruise, seat adjustment, abs and traction control. Also sports a dual muffler exhaust, and two position fairing vent panels. The c14 has a few more ponies, slightly larger saddlebags, taller saddle, and 6 gears.

 The C-14 is also a sturdier platform for carrying the weight of passenger and a trunk.  The question nobody has asked is what has she road that she found more comfortable?  The victory Vision I had befor the Connie  would cause a buffeting that my wife said would mess with her vision after awhile. She never complained about it though.

Right, I've tried the 2013 FJR solo and enjoyed it just as much as the concours. I'll be happy with either of these bikes but we 've yet to ride the yamaha 2up. It's been scheduled so looking forward to that.

It'll come down to the one we can make more pillion friendly. I'm just surprised that a flagship tourer bike needs so many farkles to achieve that.

The C14 has traction control and most people are going to replace the seat, so the only real advantage is cruise.

Which really doesn't matter

and two position fairing vent panels.

Which might be interesting.  It also has a slightly larger gas tank.

The c14 has a few more ponies, slightly larger saddlebags, taller saddle, and 6 gears.

And a hell of a much better warranty and yet doesn't cost more.
