I have had this bike for a couple of months and have put a couple thousand miles on it. Definately enjoying the bike so far.
This last weekend was my first long-ish ride 2up with fully loaded saddle bags and top case. Two hours Phoenix to Tucson and thru the twisties to the top of Mt Lemon. Then around town, out to Tanque Verde Falls (rough marginal roads) and back to the top of Mt Lemon again the next morning before heading back to Phoenix.
Great ride but this bike is a lot of work to handle at slow speeds when fully loaded. Twice I almost dropped it in a parking lot. It definately wore me out. On my way to work this evening (alone) I couldn't believe how much better the bike felt.
I am not a big person, 5'11" 180 lbs. passenger about 140lbs and an experienced, well balanced, rider. We were carefull to load only light items in the top case and heavier stuff in the saddle bags to keep the weight lower and hopefully better balanced.
I really love this bike but am concerned about taking long trips 2up. That is the reason I bought this bike after all. Maybe I just need more time and experience riding fully loaded to get comfortable with it??

He bought it to ride not haul around on a trailer.
The ST1300 was top heavy... this thing is light.+1
Just a thought- Does the top box contribute to the top heaviness?
