I took mine in and dropped it off, they said they couldn't tell because the tires were so bad (they were). So I bought tires off the web and had them mounted there and paid $140 for that ($80 an hour for labor, I couldn't do it in that time yanking wheels off the bike, mounting tires, balancing them and remounting them and taking a test ride). Then they said the brakes were fine. I asked for the results of the runout test (.3 mm is out of spec, per the service manual) and they said "they're fine, but we didn't write down the numbers." <Sigh>. And they left the pinch bolts loose on the right fork tube. Lovely.
I did have the general manager ride it, he said "It's fine". I asked if he felt the pulsing. He said "Yes, but mine does that too". So he's not smart enough to know his are warped too?
When you take them in, make sure you get a NUMBER of what they run out to. .15 mm is nomimal,, out of spec is .3 mm. Of course, they could give you a number of .00000001 and never take the wheels off the bike. I would ask them up front how they test it and get them to record the runout.
