The surest way to never drop your bike is to install tip-over protection. This is a variant of Murphy's Law.   ;)

amen!

Well I've been racking up the miles, at 3300 now.
Love the bike but I'm starting to wonder if it's for me.  On my dual sport I often come across odd dirt roads and drainage ditches, tunnels etc.  And I just drop off the road and go see what's up.  Of course I cannot with this bike and so alas I ride on.

Got my first ticket.  83mph in a 70mph zone.  Was doing a quick pass of about 3 cars, well the front car happened to be a sheriff.  :-[

Loving it for what it is, It's such a nice machine.  I just don't know if it's the best bike for me.
Oh!  I put the 2010+ windscreen on it, which really made a nice difference.
Looking for a C10!

Ouch! 'Round these parts passing three cars at once can get you in a heap 'o trouble! Not that this has ever stopped me from doing it...   ;)

I was cruising at 80 mph when I got stopped by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
I said "the last time I looked at my speedo, I was doing 75".  Chipper said "you need to keep an eye on your speed".  We talked several more minutes about my bike.

No ticket issued, but at that point, I would've talked as long as he wanted.

  • She  (C14) don't care much for dirt roads.  The 10+ bikes will do somewhat better with traction control.
  • No matter how fast you go, the bike wants to go faster.  You're totally under it's control.  She's a smooth operator.
  • Never, ever, pass a Leo unless they are out of their jurisdiction and in the right lane of 4 lane highway (never tested that theory, though.  Try it and let us know.

The most adventurous dirt roading I've done on the connie has been the Old Fall River Trail, in the Rocky Mountain National Park, CO.

It's a one-way to the top dirt road of sorts, that used to be the only way up through the park, back around 1920.

Good ride if it's had the deep ruts graded out recently, and it's not too muddy.  :o
