Black Wheels
« on: April 19, 2013, 09:21:50 PM »
Is it just me, or does the C14 look WAY better with black wheels? To me it almost looks like a different bike. When I look at a 2012 or 2013 it looks a lot different than my 2012 but the only real change is that the wheels are black.

Has anyone changed their wheel color? Plasti dip, paint, power coat, or anodize? - Please share.

  • It's only really cold if you fall down in it.

Use some 2008 brake pads on the front of your bike and the front wheel will turn black in no time.

You would be "wrong", but it is not just you :)

PS- always search the forums; for example, there are plenty of related threads on black wheels:

No, it looks worse.  (thought the original statement could go either way...)

I been wanting a satin black finish on my rims for a long time.  Just need to yank them and git-r-done.  Local paint shop I've used quoted me about $300 ish to do the rims in satin black.

Blackc looks soooo much better, and hides brake dust nicely.

Hmm, we will agree to disagree on that, but to each his own.

I am not sure I agree with that either.  Brake dust does look black when on silver/grey wheels, but it is actually a dark grey and I suspect it will show up just about as prominently on black wheels.  Black is not a good color for hiding dirt, dust, pollen, water spots, scratches, etc.  In fact, silver/grey is probably one of the best colors for it looking cleaner when it is not.  Black looks great when it is clean, the problem is that it is never clean :)

I really like the black rims so much so that I just had mine powder coated black and I think it looks fantastic and I plan on doing my C10 the same way.
