AWESOME.  I asked myself a few of those questions after my accident. That guy is a great speaker.

He's got me convinced... wait a minute .... I already was...all the same reasons.   I finally realized that one morning I would wake up dead and wonder if I lived, so I am gonna live lots while I can.  I wanna see it, smell it, taste it, hear it, and feel it till I can't anymore.

Now to forward this link to every cubicle cager t.v. remote pushin person I know.  Maybe it'll convince them better than I've been able to.

That looks nice   8)

Twice now I've got on a plane and flew North to Edinburgh  ( about 400 miles) and picked up a bike, and rode it back... both GS's... the most interesting was an old 100 PD.. first time I'd rode one was on the way home.. made for a little adventure  ;D

Have a safe trip and enjoy your new bike   :)

I had a DRZ400S, KLR650 set up for adventure touring, and now the KLX250S.  Being able to set the GPS on shortest distance and just following it wherever it points is awesome!  I have crossed rivers, condemed bridges, rode between a farmers house and barn and explored many many miles of dirt roads and trails.  I crossed the Cherohala skyway entirely on dirt.  I would love to do the TransAmericanTrail, but I think my time has passed for that big an adventure because my body just doesn't bounce back like it used to.

Sure, you can take the concours down a washboard dirt road, but why put it through that and have to live with the squeaks and creaks that will be permanently with you have the abuse.  You can get a used fully set up for touring KLR650 for $4000.  If you can't live without the power, you can opt for a super tenere, or GS, or Tiger.

My Versys makes a great backroads adventure bike but isn't going to handle trails and drops very well.

Nice.  If it doesn't already have it, add the ThermoBob and upgraded "doohicky" spring.  My next door neighbor now owns my '08 KLR 650 and has over 30.000 trouble free miles on it.  It is starting to consume a little oil, but that is to be expected when you high speed commute on it.

My D-I-L has an '09 KLX250, sweet, sweet little bike, built with good stuff. Could use a bit more gasoline capacity, curable by the aftermarket, I believe.

Marvelous video, captures the essence.

And yes, I like my beat up KLR Cali bike.

I rigged this up a few years ago.  Drove it 300 miles.  Took it to the dealer for a safety recall and wound up with a Road King.

Well at least you went from a real pig off an offroad bike to a HOG.   ;)

Pretty much everything has been done to this bike except the thermobob. It's nice to finally find a bike set up the way I want it without having to make it that way. I took the whole next week off from work so I'll have lots of time to get acquainted. I can't wait.
