I am in the midst of trying to decide whether to Lamm, Baldwin, or Russell.  I had a Russell on an FJR1300 and thought it was great, but Lamm is beginning to sway me.  The tipper is how the passenger seat is going to cushion my passenger.  (If mama isn't happy...)  How is the passenger portion.  Larger? Wider?  Better Angle?  Thanks.

Seth will make it as wide as he can based on the height/weight info you supply him.  We only had a sit in the shop so far but mama could tell right away that it was gonna be much better.
The pillion portion is considerably wider than stock and I think he took the grab rails into account when he was building.
Contact Seth, he'll have any answers to any questions you may have.

Regarding the other makers...Russell is a great seat from what I have read, but not real sporty looking.  Baldwins are also reputed to be a good sit and halfway in between for sportiness look.  The Laam seats are in my opinion the sportiest looking of the three.  If sportiness isn't in your criterion for picking a seat you've got a tough decision ahead of you cause they're all good seats.
I had a tough decision between the Laam and Baldwin- beauty and function.

Thanks.  That helps a lot.  I have spoken to Seth a couple of times and he has really been helpful.  I have not seen one here in Colorado and you folks who can answer the hands on questions really help.  I have another call in to Seth and will most likely order on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm leaning towards the LAAM also after everyone's reviews. But I've tried contacting them twice now and can't get a response. If I read it correctly, contact must be made before submitting an online order.

call him if you have not tried that.

I'll do that. The two times I've tried were through his online contact form.

He must be away.  Seth knows customer service like the back of his hand.  I also have an e-mail in to him that he hasn't replied to yet, but I'm not to worried, he'll get to it.  The guy is usually out in the shop answering e-mails and returning phone calls at 7am so he deserves a break too.

I have tried contacting him through his website form as well. Haven't heard anything yet, and it's been about three days now.
I understand that calling is the best way to get a hold of him, but why even have the online contact form if you aren't going to reply to customers?
I live in Hawaii, so I also have to figure in the time difference when I call the mainland. Email is easier for me. Oh well.

Almost two weeks since my first attempt.

Seth has been away from the shop and will be returning today.  He had no internet and limited cell service.  He stated that he will be returning calls/emails starting today.

This is a true statement. I received a phone call from Seth today, and he reiterated what 556ALPHA stated.

We went over what I asked about in my email, and what my options were as far as shipping.
Seth is a very straight forward guy, answered all of my questions, (and then some) and showed a genuine interest in what I wanted in a seat.
I'll be sending my seat to him. Bottom line.

All my dealing with Seth have been beyond what I would expect from today's market.  His work  and his communication are beyond reproach.  My only regret is winter has revisited the east.  Awfully hard to break in a new seat when it is 39 degrees. I am too old for this crap.
I always wanted to be somebody......I guess I should have been more specific.

I'll do that 556ALPHA, thanks.

I might be in trouble now with the wife though. Since I hadn't purchased a seat for the bike yet, I came across a new SA XDM 9mm that just so happened to follow me home this past weekend.

Put in my order yesterday for LAAM to rebuild my seat, just waiting for him to get back to me with a production date. I am leaning toward leather but Seth has assured me that vinyl will be just as comfortable. The only downside to vinyl is that it can be hotter in the summer. Anybody get a vinyl seat and wish they had spent the extra $115 for leather?   I sure could fine some other toys to spend $100 on! ;D

I got the leather one from Seth, but I'm sure I'd have been just as happy with vinyl. Definitely less maintenance on vinyl.

Got my seat, itching to get it out but it is just a mite too cold. Futzing around in the barn with the seat I can't get it to lock in place

I will call Seth on THrusday if I can get a bit warmer weather and spend some time out there trying to find out where it is hanging up. Seems like the tang for the rear is too far forward from the lock. My other stocker goes on and off with ease. Anyone else have a problem when they got theirs back? Any secrets to share?
