My new LAAM seat got here today.
« on: March 19, 2013, 03:04:43 PM »
It snowed here yesterday and they salted so even though everything is pretty much melted I will not be going out and getting salt spray in all the nooks and crannies of my new bike.  Too bad because it is Sunny at least.  Excuse the messy garage (spend no time there when cold) but here is my new Laam saddle.

Hey, nice seat!  Great minds must think alike.  Mine came back a couple of weeks ago and it looks just like yours.
On initial sit did it seem a bit slippery to you?

Seth has the seat thing all figured out. I'm going to give mine a 5500 mile test in May.

Did not seem slippery.  It feels firm.  It feels bigger, like I have more room to move around.  The prices are on his website and he at the time was offering a discount to C-14 riders here.  I paid around $340.00 shipped.

How wide is it at the widest point?  Is it any flatter than the stock/Sargent?

The widest point is a smidge over 16".  Does not feel like it tilts me forward.  We had temps in the 60's here last week, today will not top 40.  Hope to get some rain to wash the roads and a little warmer next week.  Also waiting to test my brand new Aeroflow shield.

Connie1,  the seat does feel a little slippery.  Of course it is cold also.  Of course not as cold as where you are I am sure.

I'm hoping that it is a function of temperature.  Seth wouldn't use it if it wasn't up to par.  I'll see in about a month when the roads finally get rideable.
Speaking of cold where I am.  We are in the middle of a spring storm today.  Just spent the last 16 hours rescuing calves from a 60km/hr east wind that is moving the last two weeks of snow accumulation into drifts 8' high.  At least it isn't too cold (-8c).  This wind better let up soon as I'm running out of steam.  Gotta get some sleep.

Mine came 2 weeks ago.  It is fantastic.  had all kinds of seats on my FJR's and Goldwings, but none was as satisfying as this.  looks like some 1,000 mile days are in my future again after all.  Seth knows seats.

Connie 1, I gotta feel for you.  Hope sping comes soon.  Got the bike out a little yesterday and felt good to ride.  Never got much above 45 so no real assessment was possible except to say the seat feels good and has plenty of room.  The Aeroflow shield is great.  The seat is a little slippery and I am guessing it is a function of some mold release agents still left from the manufacturing process. I am guessing that the basket weave pattern is mainly a fault here and it will wear off in short order.  Some alcohol or ammonia may do the trick also.

I am in the midst of trying to decide whether to Lamm, Baldwin, or Russell.  I had a Russell on an FJR1300 and thought it was great, but Lamm is beginning to sway me.  The tipper is how the passenger seat is going to cushion my passenger.  (If mama isn't happy...)  How is the passenger portion.  Larger? Wider?  Better Angle?  Thanks.

Shoulda got the leather. Laam has the best quality leather I have ever had the pleasure to sit on. I've had the seat almost a year, 18,000 miles and no regrets. Other guys tell me the seat looks great especially on an all black Connie.
