New here from Iowa
« on: February 20, 2013, 04:44:06 PM »
Picked up a left over 2012 about 3 weeks ago, traded in my 2012 zx 14r for it. Being in Iowa riding days should not happen yet but I have put 44 miles on it so far and love it! I have added a sw motech steal rack, tech spec tank protector set, fender extender and removed all warning stickers and the Ktrac stickers on the front fender. My cee baileys was waiting for me today when I arrived home from work and it took less then 5 minutes to install it and it fit perfect. Now over the next 3 days we may get 4 to 8 inches of snow so who knows when I will get to try it. Givi 46 is on its way from Twisted Throttle. Probablr some baker hand wings and who knows what else will go on it! LOL

I plan on putting a ton of miles on this bike so trying to get it set up pretty good before the snow melts for the year. I'm 6'2 so the cee baileys was needed.

I have the opposite problem :)

Actually I just ran out and did 3 miles down the highway by my house to try the cee baileys, it was 19 degrees and dark, have to say it seems like a huge improvement already!

Welcome!

And I thought I was the only crazy new owner spending money!  Very cool!

I also just ordered some of the hand wings.

Which Cee Bailey shield did you get?

The 14r is a great bike but no connie, I use to do 10,000 to 12,000 miles a year then I started drag racing 14's and busa's and street riding went down to 2000 or so miles a year if that. the racing has folded up in my area with very low bike counts so it's time to get back to the street and trips. I don't care what comfort features you add to the 14r it's not a touring bike IMO.

Welcome! And where in Iowa? I was born and raised in Ottumwa although I know live in the Pittsburgh area. My family is all still in Iowa though. The day I bought my C14 I loaded it up and left at about 9:30PM and ended up in Ottumwa in the early afternoon the next day. I stayed the night then rode back to Pittsburgh. It was a nice break-in.  :D

They've got suicide birds that fly into you from the side of the road instead of away from you....  Lotsa corn there as well.

It really could have been the bike.  At that time I was riding a Voyager XII.  They don't dare run into me whilst riding the C14!
