Speed dumps World SBK, keeps MOTOGP......for now.
« on: February 19, 2013, 04:57:47 AM »
World Superbike starts Feb 24 at where else?  Phillip Island of course!  Can't wait...  But there doesn't seem to be an American racing in the 2013 season.  However, there are plenty of Brits to go around such as Leon Camier, Chaz Davies, Jonathon Rhea, Tom Sykes, and Leon Haslam.  Hopefully Tom Sykes and Kwak have worked out the tire issues that they had last season.

MotoGP is set to start April 7 in Qatar.  Americans include Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards (Texas Tornado.  Can't quite say he's living up to his moniker), and Ben Spies.  Brits include Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith, and Michael Laverty.

Lets not forget AMA Pro Road Racing which begins March 14 at Daytona. We will see if Josh Hays continues to emabarras the rest of the group.

I had forgotten US Superbike, thanks for chiming in.  I don't watch it anymore.  After Hayden left I lost interest.

I'm happy to see the racing season get started but we in the US may get to see very little of it. From what I have read we will see very little race coverage here in the US. Speed is not going to carry WSBK and has plans to only air The AMA races at Daytona and Laguna Seca. There is a rumor that Al Jazeera may obtain the rights to air WSBK in the US.

Rossi back w/ Yamaha... this will be interesting.  I was hoping that he would help Hayden get his mind back into the game while at Ducati... but nothing helped Ducati or Hayden.  :o

And if that's the only Fn network that televises them then I'll be watching it.  Stupid Speed Channel..

I checked Current TV and it's not scheduled there either so I'm open to any alternate source if there is one....I haven't found it yet....

I guess they listened to my scathing email as Speed will be carrying WSBK this year.  And I'll have to post a nevermind letter to them as well...

http://www.foxsports.com.au/motor-sports/superbikes/speed-kicks-off-our-world-superbike-year-with-75-hours-of-live-coverage-from-phillip-island-this-weekend/story-fn5k3gtw-1226580446612#.USP_nWffHDE

Positively giddy with excitement now.  It's made me bipolar, it has.

Ok, I'm bummed again.  Closer reading says this is Speed Australia, not Speed US....  Arrrrrrrrrrrrghhh!

I've found a few races from last year posted on Youtube. The net should produce something out there for us. I watch a lot of TV programs through various sites, so there may be one for racing out there.

Update....WSBK will be televised in US (maybe) but on some podunk channel on Directv and Dish.....the details...

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/world-superbike-televised-usa-afterallbut-bein-sport-channel/

I'm not sure if I even get this channel with my subscription.  I'll have to check.

By the way......I HATE SPEED CHANNEL....in fact so much now that I'm taking it off my favorites list on Directv.  I don't care about NASCAR or the other stuff they have.

Further update:

http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=50889

Seems, as of the above, they will be streaming the Phillips Island race 1 for free on www.beinsport.tv at 8pm Eastern this Saturday.  Race 2 will be 3.5 hours later.   Sigh...

MotoGP will be carried by Speed this year.  I hates them, I does.  Funny, that they haven't returned my email I sent them.

Breaking News......

The PI FIM WSBK race will be televised at 730pm Eastern time this coming Saturday instead of the 8pm time previously advertised...

To compound the insult...the Sports Package from Directv is 12.99/mo extra...All for a bunch of channels I'll never watch.  I'll have to see if I can dump it after race season.  Stay tuned.

I've searched the site and can't find the video. Says they're going to stream it, but no actual link or anything.

I snuck into a HONDA press dinner with him, the team.  And since Eric and I raced HONDAs in CCS rather than kick us out he signed our helmets and intro'd us to several of the umbrella gals.  They HONDA ladies were very sexy nice and humble people.
