~top, no one eating?

I have been riding every weekend lately to many restaurants but all of them I've already posted here. I'm going to have to make a point of finding something new this weekend or maybe the next.

HA!  I could barely get to work today (walking) with the 5" of snow and the layer of ice on top of that :(   More snow coming tonight.  And tomorrow night it is going to be 7F and then 9F the next night.  This is Virginia Beach???

Just checked my work schedule against the weather channel forecast.  Seems that every day I'm off, heavy rains are predicted for the next two weeks.  No rain on the days I work.  Just figures for me, for that to happen... tp

Hey Steve,  I finally made it to Steamboat Bill's.  I got a hotel room in Lake Charles so I could feast and relax.  Unfortunately, I was in my roadster instead of on the bike.  Too much freezing rain about, and I had a work timetable to meet.

Just a photo of the inside for those who have never been.

One of the best meals I have had in the south.

I brought the food back to the room because I normally eat like a bird and knew I wouldn't be able to move after eating all this.  The red wine helped get it all down.  ;)

Stuffed Shrimp
Catfish
Stuffed Crab
Medium Shrimp
French Fries
Cole Slaw
Louisiana Roll

The best I have ever had:
Crawfish Etouffeé

This is the first time I tried the below menu items.  AMAZING!
Boudin Balls
Shrimp Pistolette
Crawfish Pistolette

That's in Lake Charles,La?  I'm about 125 miles from there.  May need to make a jaunt on I10E to get a meal there, when it warms a little... tomp

The Mexican Restaurant in Leaky is really good, too.  Decent prices and atmosphere.    Hope to visit the Sisters again this year.

Mexican Restaurant in Leaky name, please.   :)

Will be in TX for MotoGP, as well as a trip on the Sisters, and intend to partake in the 3 Texas food groups as often as I can.   ;)

My understanding is the food groups are as follows.   :D
BB-Q
Tex-Mex
Whataburger

Camping at Bastrop.
Any guidance would certainly be appreciated!!    ;D   8)

Mama Chole Mexican Restaurant, on US 83 just north of 337 intersection.

Won't dare discuss BBQ, worse than an oil thread.  Try several places , especially in some smaller towns. Decide for yourself.

On the eighth day, God, after resting, created Whataburger, just for Texans.  Been eating their burgers since the 60's.  So franchised out today, that while all are good, some location's food just tastes better, juicier meats, crisper fries, etc.

Tons of great and eclectic food places in Austin.  Many have been on Diners Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network.  Search their site for those locations.

Never camped at Bastrop, but I would bet Google could give you lots of info.  How did we live before Google?  tp

If you do, post a link for it here.  May not know it's there otherwise.  Thanks.  Would love to go, but with the new job, selected days off aren't OK for me yet.  tp

Thanks for the heads up, tomp!      :chugbeer:

Yeah, I'm sure "best bb-q joint" could turn into an oil thread or a stove pipe key discussion..... ;D

I will be keping my eyes peeled for non-chain along the way through TX and LA!

And I have confirmation from a http://twtex.com/ friend I used to ride with in AZ that Bastrop SP is nice.   8)

Shot in the dark on the LA camping. Reads nice on the 'net.  State park so should be casual.    :)

stevewfl, there shall be pics!  Trying to decide what glass to take.    ;)
