Just flicked through the latest CycleWorld mag and in their New Ideas / Gear section they highlighted a new offering from Corbin.

Slim side case door replacements, 6inch slimmer in width.

Because the bike looks UGLY without the side bags installed.  I thought about the slim bags for local riding when I saw them several months ago, but had already added the MC enterprises saddlebag guards and they won't look right with those guards.

Both the C10 and the C14 look more  like a sport bike with the bags off. I love the look with the bags  off. I own MC enterprises saddlebag guards.  I have yet to install them because I have not  yet needed the saddle bags.
 ZG's bike is a work of art with the bags off almost as nice as mine. 
I also like the look and convenience of  putting bags back on when I need more space for long trips.  This is just one of the many many reasons why I buy and love  Concours.

That is the first time I ever heard some one say a bike is ugly 'Without the side bags' Usually it is the other way around.

Put a set of leather fringed Harley side bags on that ugly 1993 XR250L and tell me if it looks so much better.

Isn't new... we had talked about it on the Forum at least half a year ago, I think.  (UPDATE:  Saw the other thread, yep, I am not crazy)

Anyway, I think it is a particularly ridiculous offering and can't imagine why anyone would want to pay that much to LOWER their storage capacity.  If you don't want the bags on for the ride, take them off.  I think the bike looks OK with them off- a little strange at first, but not horrible.  I never take off my bags unless I were taking them inside on a trip (like suitcases).   I simply have too much crap with me most of the time and don't care to remove them.... but  I am also very lazy.

Since the mirrors are the widest part of the bike its mostly mental, but it FEELS like its easier to split lanes in California with the bags off.

The tail is just too bulky without the side bags.  Looks like a 1990s sport bike.  Anyway, all my bikes have hard saddlebags with the exception of the 250cc dual sports.  When you ride the miles I ride you need stuff with you.

Granted, most of my riding is to work and back, and during the warmer months, which is most of them, I ride with no bags. But lately its been colder (not cold) and the bags have come in handy.

I know a lot of guys that never remove the bags. I like to see what they have in there that is so important, sometimes you have to sneak up on them when they are rummaging thru the contents. I have seen rags, rope, duct tape, depends, vaseline, glue, oil, paint brush, spray cleaner, moldy food, guns, porn, golf balls, and a hammer. I might have seen a wig, not sure on that one.

How about rain gear, tools, first aid kit, cast iron frying pan, compressor, laptop computer, lunch, water, extra gloves, cold weather gear after it warms up and before it cools down. 
Also, hard bags are handy for picking up groceries on the way home from work, or hardware, or beer.

+1  I always carry rain gear (in Colorado it doesn't matter what the weather is like when you leave, rain can come up very suddenly), some basic tools, compressor, tire plugs. These are in the left bag. The right bag is "handy for picking up groceries on the way home from work, or hardware, or beer".  Mostly beer.....  mostly
