This is a flood light which just throws light out there. If this is for road use I would get a driving light which has a more controlled beam and puts the light where you need it.

Steve, I just mounted a set of those same units with the light controller on the '10 Connie, The road conditions up here in E Central IL have been crap so no test results to speak of yet.

I did make a mount to place them above the mirrors and tight to the windshield. Everything I read said to mount aux driving lights as high as possible for the best results.

Before ordering these I spoke with the owner of ADVmonster and he claimed I would not need the HID light kit I have sitting on the shelf. So I opted to hold off on the HID until I get the opportunity to try these lights out.

Understand, I would like a wide mega-bright light to use in conjuction with my high beam only.  Others have told me its so bright even in the middle its brighter than their high beam, plus they get some on the sides.

Awesome, looking forward to your take on these!  I've heard they make HIDs obsolete too, I'm wondering if they're going to be so bright I'd be better off with a lower model but I'll wait for your results.  Either way I hope to have a better play on the deer soon.  Where I'll be using these blinding others isn't a factor

They look extremely bright !!!  total draw of 5 amps.. doubt it needs a relay.
brightest thing I every used on Bike was a pair of  PIAA 1100X  with the 85 w Bulbs... I would get flashed in the daytime and they did a great job lighting up road  and really helped from turning Bambi  into someone's dinner.
I would be interested to see them first hand ..

Yep, the 800 is a keeper.  Truth be known if I could have only one bike it would be the F800GS.  It handles everything well and it's street manners are easily tamed with a seat (anything but stock) and the MRA Vario screen w/adj spoiler.  Since the addition of the full pipe and PCV it is as smooth as butter off idle to the top.  I rode an 800 with PCV, auto tune, and stock header.  I felt like I was riding a stock bike.  If I get the time free and we do the trip I will be on the GS, not that the 14 can't but because the GS can do those little detours off pavement.
BOT, I have a set of the Rigids on the F8 with amber lens covers for daytime use, bright as all get out, pull the covers off and they are NOT suitable for street use, just too bright.
An added note, LEDs make for very sharp shadows, often hiding that which you are looking for, blending HIDs and LEDs makes for really good vision.  Do a simple test with a variety of flashlights, find a bush and see which highlights the most, including whats behind the bush.  The results will surprise you.  It isn't always the brightest that wins.  This is very important on the trail and rural areas.

SOP,

Which Rigids are you using?  I have a set of Duallys that I am getting ready to put on my '88/'97 C10...using Snarf's mounts...pretty sure I'm gonna wire them into the high beam...

Thanks!

I have basicilly the same lights as you're looking at Steve, but from 24x7DIY. I have them mounted on my bathroom bars.

I've currently got them hooked up to come on with the high beams. I'm looking at a second set of lesser powered LED with yellow lens that I'll hook up to be on with the low beams.

They do put out a LOT of light, but it's exactly what I wanted. You know ..... enough light to burn out the eyes of all of the forest rats!  8)

It's so nice to be able to see them from a lot farther away and even if they are 50 yards off of the road too!

Steve, a little late to this thread, but looking at those, I would say they are exactly the same as the DIY lights, except they bumped up the current draw.  The CREE XML T6 LED is the same one used in the DIY-3100 units I have on my 2010.  I did get a little carried away, and mounted 4 of them on my bike though.

I would be concerned that the higher current draw may shorten the life of those lights, but it's a temperature / overheating induced failure.  Since you typically only run high beams at night (when it's cooler), perhaps the point is moot.

There is quite a bit of info on the DIY lights here : http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=10217.0, including my extreme night riding test drive report ;) (here : http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=10217.msg130540#msg130540)

As for being "too bright", NEVER!  If you're worried about that, get a PWM controller, and turn them down to what ever brightness you're comfortable with, for the particular road you're riding on.

Okay, back to the sleds now...  8)
