What I do is roll it into the "working position" between the rubber grip and the smooth bar end and then roll it one revolution off to the right onto the end. It's tight enough to stay there and you'll feel its natural roll into place. Then when you want to set it to cruise on the highway just roll it back over to the left and right into the crease. It will not hold too tightly and you can easily roll on or roll off the throttle without moving the O-ring, so you can wait to move it when you are in a relaxed slow down or stop. Not a perfect speed holder but it sure gives your throttle hand a rest.
