The lock itself is off of a Helmet Guardian. The bracket is manufactured and sold by my riding buddy. Very unobtrusive and looks like it belongs on the motorcycle instead of an ugly afterthought like so many of the others out there.

I like the concept, but not the location, because it looks like a hot zone and a potential scratch zone to me.

Its several inches away from the muffler and clamps to the frame, no drilling/mods, etc...

If the base of the helmet is up against the bike, there's nothing to scratch...

An advantage to the Projekd lock is that you can use it to keep your helmet secure while still riding. I like that for those occasions when I am on a leisurely run through some of our no-helmet-required states here in New England.

Although I will admit that I ride so much closer to the edge with the Connie than I did on my cruisers that I'm pretty much all-helmet-all-the-time now.

I too am a helmet guy... My bracket / lock assembly holds the helmet right where your foot would be.

Space for the Concours is limited for this farkle...

Just looked that lock up, thats a "Helmet Guardian" (what I utilize) but one lock with a single mounting spot....

The regular Helmet Gaurdian is about $45.00 for two locks vs $30.00+for one...

BTW, Yamaha makes the same lock assembly for some of their bikes. The HG and Yamaha come with one of two different style lock cylinders. If you get the one thats the same as the Kawasaki, it can be re-keyed to fit the ignition key.

I suspect the Projekd is the same..

I rekeyed the HG to fit the ignition key on both my FJR and FZ6.

Thats the best part, no extra locks, cables, keys, etc. Its already there (as it should have been from the factory, all FJR's, most BMW's, Concours, HD, etc)

With the helmet locked on and in the way, and no tools, screwdriver, etc, its pretty hard to get that clip off...I couldnt. I wouldnt leave it over night but to grab lunch or whatever its pretty safe.

$30 + $8 shipping for just the bracket and NO lock is a bit steep for me.

No. The Helmet Guardian is mounted behind the license plate... which is kind puny. The ProjecktD one is sandwiched beneath the luggage rack- more secure, less visible, looks almost factory.

That lock assembly itself, the HG and the Yamaha lock, as noted above, come with two different lock cylinders, one will fit the Kawasaki, one the Yamaha-depends on the off set of the key. If you click on the link I posted earlier reference to re-keying, it'll show your lock....

As for prices, between the heavy gauge aluminum, SS hardware, time to design and produce, that's what it works out to WITH SHIPPING in the US. FYI, Pirates Lair, the link also posted sells my bracket and a BMW lock, ONE, for $95.00 black, $100.00 for silver. The Yamaha brackets, depending on the style(8 different ones) are priced higher and lower depending on the type (with electrical out let tabs, color, etc)

Below is a close up picture of the bracket with a lock attached. Not shown is the helicopter tape(used for the leading edge of helicopter rotors) which wraps around the frame under the bracket to prevent marring...

I'm not arguing that you dont deserve your asking price for your design and investment. But for me, the Projekt D, which includes 2 keyed alike locks, is a better value at $49. With yours, I woud pay $38 and still have to buy a lock.

This is another option for a helmet lock. Is it more expensive, yes. It tucks neatly into a nook on the bike, looks stock, requires no modifications and is easily accessable. No cables, additional locks, etc, its part of the bike.. The helmet is locked on the side of the bike not the rear, a completly different design.

I know the HG (with the correct lock cylinder) can be re-keyed to fit your ignition key, which is a must for me and most folks as they only want to carry one key. As for the Projekt D key, I don't know..

If not, please don't and purchase / do as you like... Its your bike, please add the farkles that suits you best and enjoy..

BTW, below pic is that of a HG mounted on my 2004 FJR, part of the bracket is an optional tab with a BMW electrical outlet installed. It is keyed the same as my ignition... Could I have added the HG as designed (on the plastic rear fender), sure. IMHO, it does not look good, with my FJR, the lock is tucked in neatly and doubles as an electrical outlet.
