How to make sure TPS is functioning properly? What is TPS? And the valves. I know they are supposed to be look at and maybe adjusted if needed at 15k miles, but a service guy told me most don't need it then. If you hear a tapping, maybe so. May have to pay for a valve adjustment, say around $200. in OKC.
TPMS is the tire pressure monitoring system. The batteries in the sensors, which live inside the tires, are a known issue with these bikes. They should last for 5 years and if they don't, they will be replaced under warranty. The best way to tell if they're working is to take the bike for a ride and cycle through the display screens till you get to the TPS screen. If you see the pressures displayed, it's working, if not, not.
$200 for a valve adjustment on these bikes is a dream, a nice dream at that. It ain't never gonna happen for $200, unless you do it yourself. You are right about most C-14s not needing it at 15k miles though.
