Since this is modern day and not pioneer days I would add;I'm going to assume we're in the SHTF mode, so I'd expect cell phones to be useless. Instead, I'm bringing a battery operated 2m ham radio. (Or, even better, a 2m/440) Listening to a radio is handy, but actual communication is far better.

Flash light & extra batteries
Solar or crank charging source for cell
