Retireing My Scorpion EXO 1000 & replacing with an EXO 1100

The old silver EXO 1000, has been the most comfortable helmet I ever owned. Love the drop down sun visor. Can't wait till the 1100 arrives at the shop. If there is anyone, in the Louisville area, that has the opportunity to deal with Station Park Honda, I highly recommend these guys. The solid color Scorpion EXO 1100 retails for $299.99, and I found them on Ebay as cheap as &259. Station Park sold Me one for $225. Those guys rock!

On the EXO 1000 that I'm replacing, fantastic helmet. If the 1100 is as good, I'll be happy. Supposed to be 4 OZ lighter, and quieter. I'll order the darkest drop down visor for this one, which I kept putting off on the old one, so it never got ordered.

Also, these fellas at the Honda shop quoted Me $330 for a set of PR3s before tax. $20 per wheel to install.

I agree, the Scorpion is the best helmet I have ever owned- very comfortable for 500 mile days, and the no-fog drop down sun visor is the best. Got mine for 225. also in Pasadena.

Very cool. You get a solid color one, or one of the cool graphic ones? I kinda like the one they call cranium, but I always get silver or white, to reflect the summer heat as much as possible.

I bought my EXO1000 a few months ago and I love. Now I guess I will need to take a look at the 1100 before I order the darker visor for the 1000.

I also have a Scorpion EXO-1000.  Here is a lot of info:

- It is not a quiet helmet.  Louder than my HJC was (and I considered that too loud).
- The shields are expensive and scratch or delaminate easily.
- It is MUCH smaller than other helmets.  I had to exchange for TWO sizes larger than my HJC.
- Airflow is not all that great, despite all the vents.
- The included "light smoke" drop-down visor is useless (and expensive) and has to be swapped with a (separately purchased) "dark smoke" to be useful.
- Changing the drop-down visor can be extremely difficult.
- The drop-down visor doesn't drop-down enough, and the nose cutout is unnecessary.
- The helmet lacks a shield "cracked open" indention.  The first indent is way too far.

+ Scorpion support is fantastic.  They RMA'ed one shield quickly and no questions asked, they also swapped the interior padding (to an XXL version) for me.
+ The drop-down visor is a feature I absolutely love and can't live without now.
+ The main shield is very easy to remove and install.
+ I LOVE the graphics design and color I have.
+ The strap and strap snap are easy to use and solid.
+ Nothing (other than shields) has failed after 1.75 years.
+ I don't have any buffeting problems.
+ The helmet pricing was VERY reasonable at the time.
+ Once I got the right sized helmet, it is pretty comfortable.
+ Has all the good safety ratings.
+ The anti-fog coatings do seem to work most of the time (even though it scratches and delaminates).
+ Shield seals well.

+/-Inflatable adjustment thing: Even with a extra-large version, I have no need to tighten it.  But it could be very useful for other people and is a high-end feature.

+1 Max.  Agree with everything.  I have gone back to using the lightly tinted dark main visor instead of clear, though.  Seems to work better for me.

I tried a friends EXO 1100 and found it to be very comfortable, and the visor was a plus. He tried my Shoei Qwest and we both agreed that the qwest was quiter with better ventalation and little to no buffering. However, the Qwest will set you back a few coins.

Great writeup Max. Scorpion is saying that many of the things You listed, have been addressed in the EXO 1100. I watched revzilla's video about the features. Quietness, and ease of changing the drop down visor specifically mentioned, along with the new model being lighter by several ounces.

I'm definitely pretty stoked about the price. Can't wait till the thing comes in.

- Unfortunately, it looks like they still include the useless "light smoke" drop-down visor, which is a ploy to force the user to immediately turn around and have to purchase the dark one for $20.

- The drop down visor is identical, so it is still too short and still has the unnecessary nose cut out.

- It appears the chin vent, forehead and top vents are exactly the same so I doubt the noise or venting is improved at all.

-  Looks like it still lacks a cracked/open detent for the shield.

- They don't have the nice, muted graphics offerings as in the 1000 line.

-/+ They did change the cheek vents some, but I think it is probably just cosmetic.

+ Being lighter is always a plus (as long as it is still as safe).

+ I don't see anything they did that might be a NEW negative.

+ Perhaps a better liner material (Quick-Wick II).  If it matters much, that MIGHT be swappable into the 1000.

+ They added more deep channels in the inner top helmet crown, and that MIGHT help with cooling.

I don't think they have addressed my primary complaints: shield failure, noise, ventilation, detent, except maybe the cooling.  Don't get me wrong, I think the 1000 is a great helmet, it just needs some significant improvements before I would say it is really great.  From what I can see on the 'net about the 1100, it isn't that much improved.  I will note that perhaps the ventilation even in the 1000 works fine in the EXO-1000/1100 but just not with the Concours and my body position and my windshield, etc.  Helmet vent designs rely very heavily on how air is flowing over the helmet, and that can vary wildly from bike to bike and rider to rider.

Qwest is dirt cheap for what you are getting, but I must say that Scorpion makes some pretty decent lids.

I did notice, during My search for reviews, that Scorpion has released, or is about to, a new model at a higher price level, than the 1100. I'm wondering if the issues the 1100 has, are corrected with that one.

Wish that they worked for me  :(
I like the Scorpion Exo lineof helmets they fit me great except for the chinbar area - too close for me.
I have an HJC IS-16 and as a glasses wearer, the drop down visor is nice - but I like the Scorpion visor and dropdown visor system better, just wish the fit in the chinbar area was good for me.
I actually tried on a Shoei NeoTec and it fit me very well, but way more money and I want to stay with a full face for now.

Not sure if anyone is still actually using an EXO-1000 like I am, but if you are.... 

It seems that you can no longer buy face shields for the 1000.  All I can find online are for the 1100 or the "500/1100".   I Emailed Scorpion support and they said "We are no longer carrying the shields for the 1000, but the shields for the 1100 are able to be converted into a shield for the 1000 helmet."  I replied what they meant by "converting" and they then replied "The difference is the small black knob on the side of the shield. If you order the 1100 shield, you want to make sure you save the black knob lock from the 1000 you have and just switch them out."

I still like the helmet even though the shields don't last all that long and seem prone to scratching or delaminating.  I might take a chance and order a few of the 1100 ones and see if they are, indeed, compatible by moving over one piece of hardware.  I will follow-up with more info at that time.
