Thinking about the Go-Pro Hero bike camera....300.00 is lots of money...and you just have to keep buying all kinds of accessories to mount it and keep it doing what you like..

Anyone have one using it.....do you like it...reliable mount?

Where is the best place to buy one at the lowest price?

Hero2 HD was the one I bought after trying several others...  and yes I love it..  The mounts are great and the quality is outstanding.  Yes you can spend allot more money on accessories after the fact as I did by getting the wifi back/remote.  The price is pretty consistent at $299 local or about $260 tp $270 online but the cheapest place to buy is at the races...  ie MotoGP or the WSB as they sold them for $199 plus gave nice discount on accessories.

They take amazing videos.  I filled 6 32Gb cards during my 15 state, 7000 mile ride this past July.  I took all video in HD, so now I have to figure out how to get it in a format I can upload to the internet.

I have had one running on my bike ever since some dumbass ran into me and tried to tell the police it was my fault. She hit me head-on in MY lane. So next time I will just show the video....
Really, the quality is first rate, both images and equipment. And there are many uses besides riding.

They are releasing the new Hero3 next month so I would imagine there will be some great deals on the Hero2 soon.

They work really well. It's a lot easier to take videos now, than to find anyone that will want to watch them! Hey, let's watch my two hour video with me flying down the twisty roads! GROANS and if you are on a group ride and make everyone wait while you fiddle with it, I hope someone grabs it and .....

Point that should be well noted. I had one and it was fun for a while but soon enough it simply sat in the camera drawer. The content entertained me for a while and then it was sort of just the same old stuff but a different road. Maybe if I did more Red Bull crazy crap but I don't.

Do know a guy who commutes in heavy L.A. traffic and has two running every ride, one to the front and the other to the rear. He claims it actually saved his butt in an accident that became a "he-said-she-said" affair. He was rear ended but not hurt.

If it can't be fixed with a hammer you can sure as hell teach it a lesson.

I have the HD HERO 2 MOTORSPORTS EDITION. It came with a boat load of mounts included. I have never needed any additional mounts. For the front I like to use the suction cup mount dead center between the headlines on the painted portion of the bike just under the windshield. Takes awesome video and sound is great with minimal wind noise. I think that's one of the most amazing things about the design is how much they were able to reduce wind noise compared to other cameras I've seen.

If you ever go down you'll wish you were... your hands are the first thing to hit the pavement in most crashes, ever tried typing, eating, or even wiping your butt with no skin on your hands??  ;)

MGvalerio has posted many video's of himself riding in shorts as well so I am thinking that maybe, just maybe ..... in the event the bike is going down, that front brake lock of his engages and the centerstand auto-deploys and there you sit, safe and sound in your shorts, button up plaid shirt, and no gloves ..... with music blaring from your sadllebags  :-)
