Have a new BMC Race Filter, delayed installing because of time to remove plastic to get it in...but it says it is for race applications only...so wondering how it will filter out all the road dirt that the stock unit does.

I have 3000 miles on my new ZX14r and slammed it down a few times on concrete and the dirt and bugs that came out of it was very scary!  So, wondering if I install the BMC if it will require cleaning every few months or if it will allow the sand and road dirt to get into the engine...

Ideas and opinions please.....

I don't know if it is the race filter. I have the BMC that came with the area p full system and it seems to work fine. It is easy to clean. I don't know how it compares to the stock filter in terms of how much material gets past the filter. I have about 45K on the bike so far and no problems.

I have one. Works fine. Haven't cleaned mine yet with about 12,000 miles on the filter. Probably time.

I put on a K&N reusable filter the other day. you dont have to remove all the tupperware to get at the air filter slot  just remove certain key screws(bolts) and disconnect one wire loom harness . whole thing  R&R   25 minutes...K&N is supposed to be checked , cleaned, and re-oiled every 10K miles..  key things are to allow it to fully dry after cleaning air filter and oiling with a nice light even coat of the oil..not familiar with BMC but I suppose it is along the same lines...

I run the BMC also. Have not put enough miles on it to require cleaning yet but amonsgt the racer boys and fuel-moto it's the way to go.

I also run the BMC and have about 30k miles on it... no issues to report, just clean when you are suppose to.
