Helmets: Solid or Graphics?
« on: May 26, 2011, 08:10:53 AM »
What it says. Ran this on the old forum (RIP)  :-[

When it went to Cyber Hell, the tally was about 50/50 . . . which proves I'm not sure what.

I've changed this so you can vote TWICE, since most of us have more than one skid lid.

Pictures if you got 'em.

My current "boring" Nolan, in flat black. Just snapped it, the Sena headset is charging:

I've got the exo 500 in the black oil graphics to match my black 09. This is an awesome helmet.

I voted 'Kinda boring' as I have a silver Nolan N102, but the bright red Mohawk probably screams 'look at me!"...

I bought a HJC with designs with a blue motif to kinda match the bike with the fastest color in the C-10 world.

However, I mainly bought a patterned helmet so that drivers can tell when my head moves right away.  I want their attention ASAP 'cuz they ain't using it all the time.

I prefer solid colors, mainly matte black.  My one exception is my blue Scorpion Exo 400 which has the I guess you call the tribal design on it, but the only reason I got it was I needed a helmet for snowmobiling (double windshield) last minute and it was the only design they had in my size and gave it to me dirt cheap and I ended up using it on my bike for a bit as well.

I use to have mulitple helmets, different color schemes for my different bikes...

But once I got my Scala G4 and my H.A.R.D helmet display light for my radar detector I now only have a solid black helmet so that it can go with any bike and I don't have to mess with constantly changing my helmet farkles back and fourth...

"Topic: Helmets: Solid or Graphics?"

BOTH!  Scorpion EXO "Sublim" design, which is a two-tone helmet with a subliminal graphic (a very faint one).  You get the best of both worlds :)
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

Graphics - I buy last seasons graphics to save a few dollars compared to the solids.  The graphics I buy are more visible than the solid colors I like; black/silver.  Safety first for me.

Graphics are a little more interesting. I have a carbon fiber blue that suits my 2010 C-14. My last helmet was a Rock Hard AC/DC helmet. I got so many comments on that helmet. I'd like them to make a Metallica helmet.

I'm into the more "mature" look.  I ride fast enough as it is that I don't need the cops looking at me and giving me a ticket for "probable cause"  ;)

  • It's only really cold if you fall down in it.
    • C-14 farkles you almost cannot ride without.

Does "Roll my own" include a stock helmet that has fallen off the bike a couple of times? It has 'custom' nicks and scratches in a unique pattern.....

Is this like 'distressed' jeans where if the manufacturer rips and stains them it doubles the price but if I do it I have simply ruined a pair of pants?

Graphics.  Currently wearing a HJC chrome w/ black graphics.  Highly visible, which is what I am wanting.  Shines like a diamond in a goats ass and can be seen for a mile.

Previously I wore flat black, if anything at all.  (transition from HD sportbike to sport tourer.)
