Is there a TSB to tighten the exhaust bolts?
« on: September 02, 2012, 03:23:45 PM »
I did the best I could to tighten them with extensions and swivels poked through the fairing, but for some, I really need to remove the fairings for proper access.
The bike is going in soon for the brake recall- is there a tsb to tighten the exhaust bolts? I don't think dealer will be willing to do it unless I can show there is a tsb on it.

No tsb that I'm aware of. If you want them tightened you will be doing it yourself. Take the fairings off (you get faster with practice) take out the ten mm bolt at the bottom of the radiator and move it as far forward as you can. You then have fairly easy access to tighten them up.

Whislt you are in there may as well replace those 12mm nuts with some fuji lock nuts or similar and forget about it.
Confidence is the feeling you have before you realize the full measure of the situation.

Is tightening the header bolts part of one of the serviced intervals? And if so, which one?

It's not listed in the service manual but it is a well known problem. Sources for the fujilock nuts are listed in the wiki area I believe.
