Bodywork removal/installation with cages
« on: August 12, 2012, 11:43:01 AM »
Not sure if this has been covered yet but last I saw the general consensus was that it could not be done.

The bodywork can be removed and installed quite easily with the cages on. The trick is to remove ALL the bolts in all the panels with the exception of the two right over the KAWASAKI emblem on the upper/front side panel. Having everything loose gives you enough leeway movement to get all the tabs to lock and unlock easily. You do have to make the standard cut between the top and second fin just like with the bathroom bars.

I found this out because:

A: I was curious to see if it could be done.

B: I wanted to clean Connie's innards.

C: I wanted to put dielectric grease in all of the electrical connections.

D: I wanted to check the torque on my exhaust header. (Which was all good)

Sorry if this has already been ascertained.

You need to specify which generation bikes you are talking about.  The two are very different Canyons and very significantly different panels...

(You should specify which year bike you have in your Avatar or signature: http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=8275.0 )

Thanks for the info.  Looks like I am going to have to make that cut, then, eventually.  First thing I have to get a damn speed/ratchet wrench, though.
