Mini Air Compressor Recommendation Request

Next weekend I am riding solo on some remote roads. I have been riding for decades and have been fortunate enough not to have a flat tire. This is the first bike I have had with enough storage space and electrical outlets to bring along tire plugs and a compressor.

I am looking for suggestions for an air compressor that I can take along on the ride. I am looking for something that is minimalist in features and performance. It's not important to have a fast fill. The smaller the better.

Any suggestions?

I have a small Craftsman I picked up for $10 on sale.  Looks almost the same as a Slime or Walmart El Cheapo you can pickup for around the same price.  It does a decent job, won't win a race... but will do in a pinch.  Make sure and test it when you buy!  My first one had a short in the cable.

I have the aerostich one. IIRC paid around $40 for it. Yes, more expensive than others but often you get what you pay for.

I use a small one I paid $15 for at Target, works well enough. Test it prior to leaving and figure out where you will pull power from. Mine pulls 15amps, much to much for the aux power in the dash. Had to piece together an adapter that plugged into my battery tender wire from leftover pieces laying around in the garage.

That's the same one that I have but fortunately I've never had to use it. The two times that I've had to plug my rear tire, I was at or near home.

I guess I should plug that compressor in to make sure it works eh?

I have the small Slime compressor too. Its a great little tool. I use it of My regular air ups on the tires, as well.

I planned to do just as you described with the Battery Tender connection. Thanks for all the tips guys.

Not the prettiest, but it works well enough.

Many years ago I got a cheapo WalMart unit and removed the outer plastic cover, thereby making it much smaller.  There is nothing to them.  Wrappted it in a t-shirt and it has remained in the sidebag of the next two motorcycles I've owned.

Like a lot of others, I use the Slime compressor. The compressor itself is pretty good, the air valve fitting is sort of lousy (difficult to remove and leaks air while doing so) but the case, wiring and air hose that come with it are great. I altered the harness in mine to use the round power plug that Gerbing uses for heated clothes and just power the pump from a heated gear whip already on the bike. The heated gear taps are both fused at 15 amps and so will easily handle the Slime pump.

All of these small compressors take quite a while to fill a motorcycle tire, especiallly the rear tire. And while running the Slime compressor will get hot- too hot to touch with a bare hand so allow it to cool before putting it back into its container.

Slime pump with battery tender connection for both my bikes......works most excellent.

Slime compressor here too. $9.99, only drawback is I had to deal with peopleofwalmart.com because target didn't carry it

+1 on a Slime compressor.  Big advantage is it fits under the stock seat, and you can squeeze the plug tools under as well; with plugs an cement in the OEM tool kit storage area.
