Here is a larger picture of it. Do any of you guys think that there should be more damage to the front of the bike if it was a frontal impact? Maybe he slid into the cruiser sideways or something.

the back side of that front rim could be crushed,  and the front end could easily be tweaked back.   still, nice landing

I know that the majority of officers are good people and have all the right intentions. The problem as I see it is very much like most union jobs that are still left in this country. Very few are willing to rat out another member and most of the union brass do all they can to cover for and shield the 5% that are worthless. Here in Indy back in 2010 an officer hit and killed a motorcyclist sitting stopped at a traffic light along with injuring several other bikers. Had the officers on the scene done their job they have been trained to do for years, this case would be over and done with by now. As it was, evidence was grossly mishandled, likely on purpose to cover the reportedly drunk officer. The "tainted" blood alcohol test was conveniently taken and tested at an uncertified lab. This lab tested him at .19 BAC. There were several other errors conveniently made along the way.
Now, were these other officers bad cops or decent cops trying to cover for a brother officer? Either way, they made poor choices, some cost them their job yet the accused officer is still on the force even though he is on unpaid leave until it is settled.
With the proliferation of cell phone cams and other recording devices, most officers should know they are being watched all the time yet they still keep getting caught doing really stupid and out of line behavior. When they get caught on video, they are rarely ever punished like they should be.
This drunk officer case still pisses me off more than any other I've seen or heard about.

Thats why different states are trying to make it illegal to record an officer "in pursuit of his duties" If you get someone being an ass on camera your getting arrested for recording it.

A lot of the issues that come with bad decisions by cops is their maturity level and time on the job. Some states you only have to be 18 years old to be a cop and the other states you only need to be 21. At that age you have little life experience and your decision making skills will reflect that. Young cops handle problems with their brawn and older ones with their brain. That can be said with a lot of us.
