I love my Garmin 3450. About a 1/4" thick, great touch screen. I loaded it with Europe maps and use it on 2 continents.

I use a projektd handy stick:

and a gps ball mount like this:

I've never actually used the water proof case. I just use the ball mount and the mount that comes with the Garmin. Works great with no rain. Haven't needed it yet but can use the waterproof case in the rain as long as you don't have to use the touch screen.

Will the 3450 accept routes from Mapsource or Basecamp?  I have a 2720 but keep considering upgrading due to screen size and the glare on my 765T is impossible unless I cover it with a blanket. Thanks

Mapsource for sure but I don't know about Basecamp.

Yup. Mine came with US maps only. I purchased and downloaded Europe maps to my computer and transferred them to the Nuvi by USB cable and using it every day while I am on an extended assignment in France. Mine was also the LM (lifetime maps) version and I have already updated the US map. With LM you can do this whenever an update is available for your built in maps for free.

Thanks again.  I like to make routes on Mapsource and then download them to my GPS.  I take more back roads on trips and the GPS is hard to read when focused so closely on the small roads.  Downloading from Mapsource to the GPS keeps me on track in the middle of no where.

That seems to be ANOTHER thing that pushes up the cost of the Zumo- it does not include map updates, and it has an annoying screen every now and then to "remind" the user when the maps are a year out of date.  How helpful.  NOT.
