I'm a huge fan of Throttle Meister, simple and easy to use.  Yep, it's a throttle lock, but it can also be used part way on to ease the amount of effort required to maintain a light grip on the noise maker.  I'm still waiting on BDF to come out with his plug and play cruise ;)

I put an Audiovox CCS100 on my 2008 and never could get it to work just right, I could not get enough Vacuum----I think, so I switched to the Rostra and thought it worked great

I am about 90% finished with a new install of the Rostra on my 2012
2012 Candy Arabian Red C14 but it's not Red to me
2012 Blue ABS Wing
2011 White Vstrom                               = o&o>

for my personal use of a CC (resting the wrist, doing super slab, keeping my license), I find the GoCruise (another throttle lock) just about covers my needs. But that's not what you asked. Just ingnore me...  :-[

A buddy put a Audiovox CCS100  on his ST1300 and has trouble keeping a steady speed on an incline. I hear the Rostra is a better unit,

Rostra works great, just like a car, really not that hard to install.

Just to be clear, the Rostra only works on bikes with a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).  The Rostra needs both a
VSS and tach signal to operate.

Older bikes like the C10, KLR etc... without a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) can't use the Rostra.  They need to use the Audiovox (Murphs) CCS-100.

It does need a VSS but does not need a tach signal. I have installed 2 of them now and they work great.

Thanks for the clarification.  I've only helped on a Rostra install.  I've done several Audiovox installs myself.

I have been chicken, but do have a Rostra on my "wish list", perhaps for next year.  Doesn't look TOO hard to install, although I really do hate the ugly/huge control panel and wish there was something better.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

Sorry but, “I’ve installed 2 isn’t going to cut it.”

Is there a particular model you have installed?  A Google search shows several different types but the price seems very reasonable.  What all is involved on the install? Did you have to cut into the harness? I'll have more questions later. ;D Pic's?

The one on my bike was purchased from murphskits.com (whatever model that is). I installed it on my 2010. No cutting into a harness. You do have to splice into 3 different signals, the VSS (vehicle speed sensor), clutch circuit and rear brake light.

The second install was helping a friend on a 2009 also purchased from murphskits (I think). Electrically the install was identical, mechanically the location of the unit was quite different due to the different fairings from the 09 to the 10.

Both installs used the control pad from murphs: http://www.murphskits.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=369

Brian from this forum did a fantastic job writing up how to install this on an 08-09. As I have said the location of the unit on a 10 or later has to be different. I chose to put it under the upper right fairing and run the cable across the front of the tank to the left side.

http://www.murphskits.com/catalog/docs/Rostra%20install.htm

I do not have a lot in the way of pics but here is the control pad on the left handle bar. I made an aluminum bracket that attaches under the brake lever bolt (the black paint bubbled and I never got around to sanding it and repainting).

Here is the control cable and the bracket on the left side connecting the cable to the throttle under that fat gray harness. In this pic you can also see the VSS coming out of the top of the case between the 2 bolts on the right side of the pic. You have to splice into that tiny pink wire.
