Back Off Wig Wag Module Issue
« on: March 27, 2015, 08:13:43 PM »
Hey guys I just finished wiring the Signal Dynamics Back Off Wig Wag up to my bike. I had the module tapped into my brake light and then the two wires going to two Chirper (knock off Whelen) TIR3's. When I hit the brakes, it's supposed to then make the TIR3's go on and off back and forth. I programmed the TIR3's to do a "steady burn" pattern as I don't want them to flash and imitate a police signal pattern (yeah I know wig wag is a cop pattern but you know what I mean). Problem I am having is the lights will not stay programmed to the "steady burn" so when I brake, they go crazy flashing. Has anybody used these or has anything with the Whelen TIR3's had this issue? What have I done wrong. I had my mechanic buddy come over and an electrician check out my work. Both are stumped because the wiring is right (as far as the three of us know).

According to the site, you want mode 2, and want to connect only the orange wire and not the red.  I don't see why it would matter which types of lights you wire to the Back Off, as long as they are simple/steady lights and under the maximum wattage.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

I wired up mode 2. Apparently my issue is I wired non steady burners. They strobe as a main function but can be programmed not to strobe. They aren't staying programmed not to strobe so now either I scrap these lights or figure something else out. Super frustrated at these lights for not being able to "remember" their last command.

Mikeeitup, did you get the lights to respond the way you want? I like the idea of adding those to my bike but want to make sure they work as expected. I have the Admore light bar (flashes 3 times when I brake) located below my license plate and the LED light bar from AST (also flashes when I brake) below my rack and right above my stock taillight. I like the idea of adding this to my taillight so all lights flash when I brake!

So far I am a no go. I haven't been able to find a TIR3 shaped LED light that only has a solid on or single programmed "flash". Until then I'm pretty screwed.
