ECU removal
« on: April 17, 2013, 05:40:47 PM »
This might be a silly question, but the ECU is under the passenger seat correct? I want to pop it off this weekend and send it to Guhl for a reflash.

Thanks for the reply. I am assuming a battery disconnect before removing the ECU is good protocol?

Battery disconnect is a must! Not doing this is a good way to fry your ecu and they cost a little bit of cha ching  ;)

Hi

On mine the toolbox is held down by 4 security screws which have also had thread lock on them.
Managed to get them out using long nose vice grips.

Yes, the ECU is under the seat but the ECU is NOT under the tool box.

See this thread for the location.

Technically that is correct, however there is no way to get the ECU out without removing the toolbox.

I just removed the fuse right by the tool box labeled "ECU 15 amp". worked fine. the ecu is the one under the three plug box. the ecu has two connections.

ECU was sent to Guhl for reflash and is already on it's way back! Ordered Area P slip on and BMC street filter also. ;D
