If you're a vette guy you prob have $$$ just buy new pulleys. Seriously, laquer thinner cleans anything
Laquer thinner was the first thing I tried, then acetone, 2-propyl alcohol, gasoline, and so on. I looked around for a new pulley, but not very hard. I'd prefer to keep the original, if possible. Thinking of having it re-powder coated, so the belts can start with fresh paint to wear off. Plus, it's not like I drive it much. After all, it's 43 years old, and only has 79K miles on it.
Back to the clutch topic, I'm surprised the OP roasted his clutch in 50K miles. The feedback I've heard about the police bike clutches (who are pretty hard on clutches) is that they are rock solid. Perhaps it's just the flavor of oil being used?
