When you figure $450. a pop for PR's I agree- bike tires are an order of 3X the cost of car tires when they only last 12-15,000 miles vs. 50,000-60,000 for car tires.
YMMV, but after 33,000 miles on my C14, I have yet to get a set of tires to last as much as 6,000 miles. (Tried PR2s, Avons, OEMs, two different Shinkos.) After 15,000, I would likely have worn out three sets, and be looking for my fourth. Must be the roads hereabouts; I'm certainly no hooligan.
