mid pipe options

Looks like a have a hole punched in the mid pipe.

Wondering if anyone has had this piece welded or managed to
find a replacement one.

The OEM part finder shows it as part of the complete exhaust!

Does it come apart or is it already welded together.

I have a feeling this is going to be a tough job as I have no experience with bike exhaust.

Isn't that pipe going to get too hot for this stuff?

It might but that's a bit big of a hole for JB Weld I would think unless you bridged it with a small piece of metal.

http://www.jbweld.com/faqs/   500 degrees....I don't think the mid-pipe gets that hot.

I agree Jim,  It looks like one clamp and a couple springs are all that is holding it on.   Might take it off
and bring it to a local welder.   I'm sure the welder would appreciate if I didn't try JB weld first.

Have you ever removed the midpipe?  is it more complicated than I imagine?

Never had the pleasure of removing it.  Others here have.  ZG most likely.  I don't think that there's anything original left on his bike but him.

No problem to r & r. A competent welder can lay a patch over it.

So ... um ... how did you get a dime size hole in your mid pipe??

If the hole is on the bottom or an accessible location, I would think a welder could do it while the pipe was still on the bike. Might have to put the bike on a stand or lift it with a cherry picker but that would be easier then pulling the exhaust.

Road Debris.   

Not sure what it was but with my amazing skill I hit it perfectly.
My talented driving allowed me to strike it in such a way that
I tested its density against the exhaust and removed it from the
roadway.   I'm doing my part to keep the road clear for other
riders.

Or I was checking my gauges and didn't have time to avoid it.
