So is anyone out there running one of these or know more specifics about em good or bad? Does it really improve heat management over the stock plastic fan? Any other hidden benifits?? I'm running out of things to do... :-\

I did a search but didn't see any threads...

I don't see where it would hurt. We don't have problems with overheating nor with the blades breaking so I really don't see the point of it. But that's me. We had some discussions on this in the past forum.
-
Ya, no issues with heat for me either Jim, I live in the PNW so any heat at all is always welcomed. :)
Just seemed odd to me that these are available but yet nobody seems to talk about them that I can recall... :-\
I was hoping somebody had some deep dark secret about how they give you an extra half horse or drops 10 lbs or something... ???
-
Nope.
-
what makes anybody think Kaw cant design a rad fan?
Im sure their engineers are better than Muzzys if they even have one.

???
I'll take Muzzys full dual system over the Kawi single sided potato launcher any day of the week, so I wouldn't pat Kawi enginerring on the back too hard... ::)

i believe the factory has a different set of noise and emisions standards to follow.
I guess muzzys goal would just be pretty and loud.

I agree, love my dual Muzzys!

aluminum fans are usually used when changing to aftermarket exhaust headers. that's usually the case for ZX7R bikes (i used to own one).
some aftermarket headers are closer to the fan than stock, the heat can melt the fan blades or significantly weaken it.
for a concours14, depends if you have the same problem after installing your aftermarket exhaust full-system.

Isn't the plastic fan mounted on the opposite side of the radiator as the header for the C14 though?? ???

not really...
radiator -- fan -- header -- engine.
you won't see the fan if you look at it from behind the forks.
looking at it from the fairing side vent, fan and exhaust headers are maybe a couple of inches apart.

Ya I can see mine through the side vent. So is the point of the aluminun fan just to keep it from melting due to header heat then??

Just make sure ya paint it black, we wouldnt want you gaining any silver induced speed ;D I think it would be better spent on a Nitros setup and it would be unique to this forum, I would say turbo or car tire but those have already been taken :P Wait, turbo AND car tire :o

I've run the Muzzy fan on a couple of my GPZ1100's before. I believe that the pitch and number of blades was different than stock and the fan actually pulled more air than the stock plastic fan, at least on that bike. I noticed a difference in how quickly my temp dropped when the fan came on. I was also running full Micron exhaust on these bikes and was a bit concerned about the stock fan being deformed by the heat coming off the headers. That said, I haven't really felt the need to replace the fan on the C14. I suppose if I were to add a full system on the bike, I would go ahead and do so. Cheap insurance.

Maybe you can get them and give us a report on any improvements. Maybe they are made for black bikes so they will be as fast as the red ones!! ::)

Don't forget the 10% hp gain... ;)
I think that would be questionable. Perhaps combined with other modifications, but not just swapping a muffler on a C-14. Of course, I have no data to back it up (but I doubt anyone has data to refute it either).
Anyway- like most others, I really don't see the point of replacing the fan blades. I don't think I have ever seen a single post about the plastic fan blades melting or breaking, or being nosier than metal. Don't think I have ever read about the Concours overheating, either.

He's talking about Muzzy's full system, which includes the header, not just the mufflers. It's pretty well documented that a full system upgrade on these bikes will give 10% or more HP gain.

That, I would believe. But there is no gain from just changing the C-14 muffler/silencer (which LOTS of people seem to believe). Now that I re-read what ZG originally said and then replied to, I see your point...
"I'll take Muzzys full dual system over [...]"
My bad.

All good, we forgive ya Max!

I will bet you are wrong on that..........

i doubt you can get 10% power increase at the top with a full system. But lets just say that you can.
Who rides at the top of the rev range. Do you just want to carry around a dyno sheet and show people?
When you go for more dyno numbers at the top you give up something down low . You know, useable power.
Do you think Kaw engineers are complete idiots ?
Dont beleive the hype on these bolt on power adders. Its mostly bullshit.

I do.
Also, here's Fuelmoto's dyno chart. First run is a stock bike. Second run is with the flies out, AreaP full system, and a power commander. There are significant gains EVERYWHERE in the power curve which I can personally vouch for as I have an identical setup.

I have the Muzzys fans installed (yes, I know you're shocked lol).
My one complaint is that the C-14 replacment fan kit that is sold by Muzzys has both fans at the same size - the smaller of the two. I was tempted to purchase the replacement fan sold for the ZX14 (since that bike only has the one big fan, not the second smaller fan) to see if it was larger and then swap it, but my wallet 'splained that I didn't have that much of an issue with heat - so I never did do it.
As you will have surmised by now, the Muzzys fan kit will set you back around $80. Not cheap. In hindsight, I think it's a solution chasing a problem.
-
I hate it when you guys confuse the issues with facts.
-
Ive got them as part of a total heat-fix overhaul.I cant tell any difference though.
