Glad we are back online, been itchin getting some feedback from you guys (didn't get too much luck on COG-Online, not a slam, just sayin):
Santa promised to bring me farkles for Christmas, and I even get to custom tailor my wishlist...So I'm eyeballing some frame sliders and tip over protection.
1. Does anyone know if the topblocks (zat what they are called?) get in the way of Air Bakers Lowers? Looks like they might. THEY DO...JUST FOUND SOME PICS ON THIS SITE THAT SHOW THE MOUNT...
2. Same question MC Enterprises tip over kit. I know they are ugly but are they the most functional?
3. GSG Frame Sliders versus R&G? any info?
4. some other kind I'm missing?

I have the gsg sliders on my c14. They are well made, and I do believe they would offer frame protection. I have short legs and these are positioned to where I smack my left shin on a regular basis. Not hard, or painful, but this could be better.

I was eyeballin them hard on twisted throttles website. I can't tell if my airbakers will be in the way. thoughts?

I think there woudl be enough room. The GSG;s do sit below the middle fairing completely.

I think this place has a better price on GSG.

Will, I cannot find a big pic of the lower guard, but I think gsg guards would hit the very top of the lower guard. The wing could be cut to clear. This would look amazing. Maybe something like a 1.5 inch hole saw....

Try this web site, this is the way I plan on going, unless someone thinks or knows that this setup is bad.
Good luck.

Yeah I dig them but I think the bakers are in the way.

Here's a pic of the GSG mounting, you should be able to tell if the wings will get in the way or not from this.

Thanks Conrad, approx how much space is between the slider shaft and the lower faring? The bakers need a lil less than half an inch clearance for the brackets.

I'd have to go out to the garage to check, I'll do that when I ride to work and get back to you. Here's another pic, it looks like a lil less than half an inch might work.

Yeah!

Yeah!! The left side looks like good clearance. Just can't really tell from right side.
-
Here you go Will, there's about an 1/8~1/4 inch between the fairing and the shaft. The fairing flexes enough right there that I think you'd have no problem getting 1/2" of clearance in there.
-
Is that the ProjektD side stand foot C?
-
I really like those, looks like another accessory in my future.

Good eye Z, it sure is.

Thanks Conrad...The GSGs are on my short list now for Santa :-)

Well, there was a LOT of talk about the GSG on the old board, especially as to how effective or not they are or would be in protecting exactly what and under what circumstances. I don't recall any overwhelming conclusion, other than "some protection is better than none".

What do you think Conrad? Wondering if the GSG will hit the plastic of the baker now. I thought I only needed the clearance on the inside.

I don't know Will, it's hard to tell from that pic.

You may want to compare to a bike (in person) that has them. I have them as well. Could be someone up your way, though.

yeah, Momma said I'm confusing Santa, no more wish list changes...I'll have to wait and see now once they arrive. I'm thinking it'll fit. My "wish list" also included front GSG sliders, final drive slider, a Givi leg bag, some ROK straps, and some helmet reflective stickers. Oh and some Murph's oil filler caps for engine and final drive, and some Tech Spec tank protectors...gonna be a farklelicious Christmas.

Oh the weather outside is frightful but my farkles are so delightful...

My left pants leg cuff gets caught on my GSG sliders. I'm 6'2'' w/34 inseam.
First time I it happened I almost drop the bike as I came to a stop at a stop sign.
Cuff was caught and could not get my left foot down.
Only seems to get caught on my left side. Right side never does.
I just try and remember this and move my leg out away from foot peg to put my left foot down.
Have also bumped my shine a couple times but no damage to my leg or slider, from that ;D

I wear 14" high combat tour boots covered on outside by motoport pants with pads from knee all the way down to an inch above my feet. I Velcro my pants tight around my boots with 8" x3" Velcro strap as part of pant. No way I'm getting hinged on the gsg or fear of banging my shins. When I wear leather they are neatly tucked into my combat tour boots also. Tons of leather between me and gsg.
Now hurry up Christmas so I can even see if they fit.
-
Well, that answers that...GSG frame sliders fit with Lower Airbakers installed. Santa let me have one of my gifts early :-). It's not mounted yet, so just holding in the mount location.
