Moral of the story is to actually try them on.

Agreed.  And I did.  Unfortunately, in my case, it doesn't matter.  The pain doesn't start until perhaps 20 min or longer (and when it starts, it is bad and unrelenting until helmet is removed and then it is gone very quickly).  That is longer than most trials.  I am also not sure just standing in a store with it on that long would simulate actual riding (body position, wind pressure, bumps).  I am pretty sure I tried an Arai but was a long time ago so I don't recall the problem.  But it was likely color not available and/or no drop-down sun visor (which I insist on) and/or uncomfortable and/or price was astronomical.  I might have posted about it somewhere on here in an old thread.

I do think there is something anatomically strange about my head and doubt most people would have this much issue.  Even my newer Scorpion (EXO-T1200, 2017) can cause this pain, a little, sometimes.  The old one never does (EXO-1000, extra large, 2011).  In ancient times, I had an HJC (1999 or 2000?) and had no problems with that one, either.   The Shoei (GT-Air, 2015) ALWAYS does.

Pain right at the top of your head is normally because the EPS is pushed hard into that point (soft foam fully compressed) and since you only get it after riding for a few mins that is the most likely explanation as the turbulence is bouncing that EPS against your skull.
It sounds to me like you have an Oval Extreme head shape so that is going to make finding comfy lids difficult as manufacturers tend only to cater to the 3 middle shapes (Round, Normal, Oval). If the Scorpion works for you then you need to find a bike shop that stocks them and test them to find one that feels like your current one. Yes, you will pay more buying from a shop, but those are the joys of being non-standard.
I have to go to specialist stores for most things due to my size and getting bike jackets and boots has always been a challenge. Some things I can order online, but shoes (size 16US) I HAVE to try before I buy. The same with gloves as I have shovels for hands and need size 5XL.
Lid wise I am lucky as despite the size of the rest of me, my bonce is a round Medium so I have a decent choice of lids.

Yeah, I am kinda used to non-standard.  I have:

1) Obviously a strange head, large/tall and not round, complete with ridges on top.
2) Unusually short legs and arms compared to a long torso for someone only 5'7" tall (26.5" inseam, 29-30" waist).  Hemming pants is easy and always, but finding anything smaller than 32" waist is very difficult.
3) Short but very wide feet (8.5 EEE) and with a high instep.  Finding shoes is always a long-shot.
4) Broad shoulders and neck, so shirts that fit there are like a tent everywhere else, so I have to custom take in most everything.  Thankfully I am competent with a sewing machine.
5) Hands are wide and with short but thick fingers.  Wide enough to fit hand = fingers too long, which is very annoying.
6) Glasses seem to be almost impossible to fit- unequal eyes and ears, has to sit way high on nose for correct field of view, which results in too much pressure on nose pads.  I always expect having to go back for different pads and adjustments at least 3 times, regardless of brand or type.
7) In-ear earphones never fit, regardless of size/shape/brand, resulting me to press them back in a zillion times during use.

I absolutely hate shopping for clothes/shoes/etc.  It is always an exercise in frustration, disappointment, and often futility.

I have a friend who is 5'10" and no matter where he goes he can find stuff to fit.
The whole world seems to be designed around him,..... and I hate him! (I don't really, but it does wind me up!  ;D)
They have absolutely no idea of the struggle. ::)

It is so true. Right now my teenagers are regular sized. Pisses me off. Even when I was their age, it was already difficult to find things.

Put a new radiator fan in the '78 Camaro, built a rear deck panel and carpeted it for the '63 Nova. Also swapped the rear lugs on the '63 so they work better with the spacers we're running.

Can you tell us about the rocket/missile and the penis-and-balls gasket you got hanging there? I used to build some rockets and RC planes from Great Planes when I was younger. Still have some old OS engines laying around.

The penis gasket is a Toyota water pump gasket. I used to manage an auto parts store, and I love parts jokes. We hung it up because it's funny. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B42FD1VY/

As far as rockets, it's another one of my hobbies. I've got a Level 2 NAR cert, which lets me buy and use motors up to and including "L" size.

This rocket is called "The Neutral Zone", paint scheme and decal from Star Trek TNG. It's about 11.5 feet tall and weighs about 55 pounds loaded for flight. It's mounted on our portable launch pad/trailer. Both the rocket and trailer were scratch built. (Trailer body was a harbor freight deal)

What the hell Red! How many hobbies do you have? I though that was a Revell model.

I feel bad that I let my fun die. I need to get back to all that. Building models, firing up some little Estes and fix up my old Great Planes 40. I miss those days.

How much of these rockets are reusable?

I have too many hobbies. Guns, cars, rockets, models, welding, photography, fishing, camping, and I’m sure there’s more.

Almost all of the rocket is reusable. Just the engine, or engine reload is used up.

Riddle me this x2

#1  Oven had no power, everything else on the circuit 'appeared' to be ok.  My circuit tester indicated ground and neutral were shorted amongst other bad things.  Unplugged the oven and figured the outlet was bad and replaced it.  No joy there.  Didn't help anything.  These outlets were GFCI protected from the electrical panel.  Replaced another outlet figuring that was the issue....nope.  Went to the panel and pulled the GFCI for that circuit and replaced it with a non-GFCI.  Didn't help at all but had a new GFCI in my pocket just in case.  Did not install it.  When I removed the existing GFCI I noticed the curly que pig tail was not tight in the panel...so I was thinking that could be it.  Now the strange thing was that I could cut power and one of the outlets was still live.  If I plugged my tester into it, the oven would power up.  Weird as cra*.   This was a combo outlet combination with a receptacle and switch for the lights over the sink.  The lights were on a separate circuit.  I had just got to the point where I'm thinking I need an electrician to sort this out when I had a thought.  Let me pull that outlet and look at it.  As I was touching it I saw sparks flying from the neutral and ground points.  Pulled the outlet out and tightened up the ground and neutral (they were severely loose).  There's your problem lady!  Fixed that up and I am now back to normal.  Geez, that took some years off my life troubleshooting that.  Had to have a Scotch (Macallan 12 double cask) to celebrate. Yay!  So before this coming Monday I'll be putting the GFCI back in for those outlets.

#2  TPMS on the Indian...  I reached my threshhold of plugged holes on the rear tire and was going to hold off getting a tire for a bit or so I thought I was ok.  Bearing in mind that the rear TPMS was taking over 10 miles to come alive (shades of the C14).  Took it in for an inspection (similar to an MOT but every frickin year) and it failed for the rear tire.  Got the tire replaced and now the rear TPMS is functional within a few blocks.  WTF!  I'm not complaining but why is it working better instead of the same?  I'm thinking it may be due to removing the air and then replacing it again but who knows...

It never ends does it?

At first I didn't understand much of the first part as I didn't know that a GFCI is what we "olde worlde" types call an ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker), but now I understand.  8)
Electrical stuff is always fun, especially when you are working on a house where some idiot has fitted 2 separate earth stakes (one next to house, the other next to workshop 100ft away) and hasn't balanced them, so you can get 30mA between the 2 circuits and that trips your GFCI/ELCB out for no obvious reason. Once we figured that out an extra 3ft of earth stake hammered into the ground on one of them balanced them and no more weird power outages.

As for the TPMS, probably a blockage in the sensor that was freed by the process of changing the tyre.
My C14 TMPS has never failed to come on in under 100yds and normally displays before I get into 2nd gear.

Our MOT Test is annual as well. We are only allowed one plug in the rear tyre (none in the front) and the tread depth limit is a minimum of 1mm across the entire width of the tyre.

I don't think they check here in VA for tire plugs in tires.  I'll have to ask my grandson as he is a vehicle inspector in VA.  I think that you may be right about a blockage in the TPMS.  And here in the States, vehicle inspections are controlled by the States themselves with many of them not having inspections at all.  Mine failed because of self inflicted abnormal tire wear due to a knucklehead trying to set the belt tension.  Cocked the rear wheel it did.  You know, I really miss shaft drive bikes.

I'm glad I found that issue in the receptacle as that's the kind of thing that causes home fires.  Probably wouldn't hurt to check the wiring connections especially in an older home.
