I'm impressed at the structural strength of the box!!  Just recently we had a large bit for the shipyard hit the far side of an overpass, escort vehicle somehow missed the "Low" spot, load didn't.  Backed up traffic for miles.

Bridge doesn't shake because the put a steel beam ahead of the bridge to keep trucks from hitting it.

This bridge has been named The Can Opener.

Honest boss, the truck was like that when I got in this morning. Must have been some vandals overnight.

13 crashes in 13 months

Maybe if I drive REALLY slow the camper won't be so tall?

Camper tries to sneak up on the 11foot8 bridge

Well crap, that AC unit was undersized anyways and who needs an antenna?

Another idiot.

I wonder what those flashing lights are for?

Semi gets bent out of shape at the 11foot8 bridge

You'd think that the dude would get out of the truck and have a look before trying to back up?

A neighbor of mine was killed in his sports car several years ago when a delivery truck went under a low bridge. The truck was speeding and when the trailer hit the bottom of the bridge, the driver lost control and the entire rig rolled over on it's left side. Unfortunately, my neighbor was in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. The truck landed on top of him in his convertible, killing him instantly.

Evidently, there was significant negligence in training for the driver, and others at the company knew that this underpass was not high enough for their trucks. Bottom line, I think his widow ended up getting a settlement in the high 7 figures.

To this day, I will almost stop if passing through an underpass with oncoming truck traffic, making sure they are going to clear before I proceed.

Gotta hope the occupants of that truck had their seat belts on...if not, there's quite a bit of pate on the inside of that windshild now...that was a pretty sudden stop...

It bit another truck:

"Reefer truck gets stuck under the 11foot8+8 bridge"

Perhaps he was stoned.  Idiot ignored the signs, then the warning lights, then the RED TRAFFIC LIGHT.  He wasn't stuck like the description says.  He was free to drive away if he wanted, just without the top of the truck :)

Please all remember the above statement when out on your bikes.  :goodpost:

I went for a ride on Sunday, and quite apart from the usual assortment of f***wits failing to signal, incapable of staying in their lane, etc-etc-etc. I saw the aftermath of one crash (car on wrong side of road head on with motorcycle, rider survived but needed Ambulance), and actually witnessed another crash. The motorcycle stopped at crossing to let a pedestrian across (required by law in the UK) and the car behind hit him hard enough to total the bike and car and the motorcycle rider was thrown nearly 40'. He was bruised and badly shaken but otherwise OK. Good rider gear helped with that. Car driver was arrested when the Police arrived. I was 400yds away travelling the other way and saw it all so stuck around to give my statement to the Police.
There are so many incompetents out there driving with no consideration for any other road users, or mostly with no thought of any kind what so ever, so far as I can tell.  >:(

2 lane, I'm the only one on the road, maybe 50mph, rolling hills, turkey runs across road, I hit the brakes even though he's across, always others, here comes the other one, like in the movies, slow motion, I'm braking, he kinda running, then he takes off seeing he ain't gonna make it, I duck, he flies between me and the windshield and his claws scratch my helmet.
