Hello all -
I'm looking to replace the front rim of my '87 C-10 with a 17 inch unit.
What's the best route I should take? I can't afford to replace the whole front end/forks, et al. Also want to use the existing
brakes/rotors/calipers.
Thanks for the feed! Cheers,

There are more tire choices for the front of your Concours than the rear.
In the 110/80R18 size for sport touring, Avon has good choices (AV45 still available, AV55), as does Michelin (Pilot Road 2), and Pirelli (Angel). Are you sure you want to replace with a 17"?

Sam, if you aren't going to upgrade the brakes or the forks, I would seriously think about retaining the 18" front tire, as George has stated. Most good sport touring tires that is available in a 17 are also available in a 110/80/18, and that is a size that fits better than the stock size. Upgrading the rear to 17 opens up a lot of possibilities. Going to a 17 in the front is usually just a byproduct of a fork upgrade unless you really really want one.
Here is the FAQ on it:

My plan is to "upgrade" or rebuild the existing forks with heavier duty springs, oil, seals, et al. Thanks for the link involving the 17" front rim conversion, that is EXACTLY the information I was hoping for!
Thank you for your time and attention - now all I need to do is find a shop in my area that is willing to take the time to do the work. I hope to find most of the parts during this winter. My timeworn Connie is in need of some major TLC.
Cheers,
