I'm not riding much now, I was considering this to help with managing space in my garage:

Would it be easier on an aging suspension to have on center stand or would this be fine?

I bought one last month. Works fine for rolling the bike around. With the bags off and the mirrors folded the bike extends about 34 inches from the wall. A few things to consider.
Add no slip grippers to the bottom of the "feet". They will slide on a garage floor while loading.
Tie down bike anytime to move. It is easy to push the bike over instead of the wheels rolling.
When you put the kickstand down you have to lean the bike away from you to clear the tray edge. Scary the first time.
The dolly weighs about 60 pounds by itself. Have to think of disassembling it to store during summer.
I think one that sits under the center stand might be a bit more useful.
For the price I like it.

Another option is the drive on lift. A lot mor dollars but can use it for bike storage, changing tires, repair and a table in the off season. You are not supposed to move the lift with a bike on it but I do with no negative results. You could push it against a wall and jack it up to store bags and such underneath.

Center stand saves flat spots on the rear tire, this stand secures the front end. http://www.harborfreight.com/interests/motorcycle/motorcycle-stand-wheel-chock-97841.html (http://www.harborfreight.com/interests/motorcycle/motorcycle-stand-wheel-chock-97841.html)

With three bikes in my garage, one being a trike, I was starved for space. I decided to go with Park and Move. They are a bit pricey, but for me cheaper than looking for a house with a bigger garage. I ended up getting two of them. They have solved all my space problems.

I have been using the HF dolly for years and it works fine for my needs.
