Title: Squid Psychology
Post by: Mister Tee on August 27, 2011, 04:28:43 PM
In his defense, he probably only literally rode a couple blocks 30 mph tops so I'll give him a free pass for the lack of gear but......

So I just get to the gym, and I'm stowing my helmet and retreiving my gym back from the side case when this guy on a CBR 1000 RR rides up next to me and parks.  He's in gym shorts, gym shoes and a T shirt.  Me, I'm all decked out but I'm wearing my gym clothes underneath my gear.  Why he parks off to the side and not in front of the window where we all park so we can keep an eye on our bikes baffles me.

Until I see his rear tire.  It was completely worn to the cords in the center.  Not slightly, but there were a LOT of cords showing all the way around the tire - at least a half inch of wide strip of cords showing.  And a good, solid, 2 inches of untouched rubber on the sides.  That in itself characterized him perfectly.

Didn't say hi, didn't give a nod, just went about his business.  I could tell he was one of those people that doesn't really take anything seriously.  Like, even his time at the gym.  No towel, no gym bag, he's not showering afterwards, he's just working out a bit and riding back.  And that's what he did.  Some half assed cardio, never broke a sweat, some half assed weight exercises, then left after about half an hour.  If he came to posture for the chicks he came at the wrong time.  They show up in the afternoon.  He looked like an afternoon transplant that showed up in the morning.

Riding was one of these short term hobbies for this guy (probably the same as working out at a gym.)  Usually I don't berate squids when I see them but for some reason this guy deserved special attention.

Hey T,
Well we are probably cut from the same cord here. I Love to interact with the squids when i have the chance. My size helps a lot, and completly geared up does wonders.
I asked one just the other day if his parents were still alive, he looked at me like I was nuts, then asked if I knew them. I said no, but would console them when I was at your funeral.
And I would tell them that they could try again with a surragate.
He shuffled into the gas station building pretty quick. I hung out just to see if he would come out, he stood in there and waited till I took off.
Sometimes you just have to shock them, not that it helps, but boy I just love to stir the soup.
Ride safe all, and ATGATT please, remember, someone Loves you.
Greg

I was in town yesterday in the cage, had to pick up some softener salt, tough to carry on the bike.

I pulled up to a stop light (4 lanes) and this guy on a loud HD pulls up next to me. I glance over and bust out laughing. He's a tough lookin guy cept for a couple things. He's got all the tats, vest, and doorag, so he's got that going for him.  ::) He's got really long dreds tied back into a BIG knot, that was humorous, but what really made me bust a gut were his shorts and flip flops. Not quite what one would expect from a 'hard core biker' type.

Well, maybe he was doing the 'hard core biker' thing:

Now that you mention it, his flip flops did look like the second one in that pic.

Best argument for yearly vehicle testing. I don't much care what folks do when they ride, or how they ride or what their ride looks like, and I don't engage folks when I ride or when I'm stopped, and I don't much care what they think about me. I'll say hello if greeted, or nod if nodded to. I'm on a bike, they're on a bike, great.

I knew there was a reason why I liked you from the start......
