Title: Earthquakes and hurricanes are no match for....
Post by: B.D.F. on August 25, 2011, 07:07:12 PM
..... KiPass and Kirby! I have spent literally seconds upon seconds getting ready for the natural disasters headed my way; fob #1, check. Fob #2, check. Dead rodent sitting on motorcycle, check. They are so confidence inspiring that I almost feel bad for Irene should she show up in these here parts....

That is the funniest thing I have seen all day. Maybe in the last two days.

Yep, I guess Kirby could put someone off the first time he meets them. Kirby actually has a long history around this forum and actually posts from time to time. I do tend to forget there are new members here who might be getting to see Kirby for the first time without any explanation of who he is and where he came from.... and especially how he got here. I will try to explain a little later.

Kirby before he met KiPass:

Kirby after a hard day arguing the benefits and glory of KiPass:

Kirby and Zach basking in the glow of KiPass and the woodstove:

Kirby is not bitter, far from it. He learned his lesson about KiPass and now exists to praise that system whenever and wherever he can. He is the unofficial KiPass maskot. He has also spent a lot of time honing and perfecting the care and feeding of C-14s everywhere. While others were using small pins to help retain those pesky flying saddlebags on C-14s, Kirby conjured up a truly robust system that is absolutely guaranteed to retain the bags on any C-14, under any conditions including having the bike fall off a cliff. This is Kirby's system:

After I developed the by- pass system for the sticking KiPass activation switch, Kirby took it upon himself to put together a kit to install that by- pass on any C-14 in the field; he called it the 'Kirby KiPass Korrection Kit'.

Here is Kirby inspecting a custom luggage being fitted to a C-14:

Sometimes Kirby helps me troubleshoot things that are hard for me to reach or see on the C-14. He is willing to help anywhere and in any way he can although sometimes I think he has poor vision and misses things.... Here he is looking for a loose wire during a cruise control install (although he didn't see it!):

No need to feel bad for Kirby, he basks in the warm, comforting glow of KiPass.

I'm not too sure that "Kirby" is not actually the Revered Remains of Barney, that awful purple thing which hitched many pillion rides from coast to coast  a few years back. He's definitely lost weight considering all the scotch, cigarettes, and Viagra he's consumed. Poor thing....

Actually, those pills are Aleve next to a prescription bottle. Kirby does not have or need Viagra, he is quite 'firm' in every way imaginable, including his views.... he LOVES KiPass but in the good, wholesome way.

Update 29 August, 2011 4:45 PM EST....

It appears that while Kirby and I were well prepared, Narragansett Electric was not (local power company). Apparently they do not have lucky rodents or fobs because we have been w/out power since yesterday morning with no end in sight.

Luckly I had a generator that I fired up and wired in. Unfortunately it does not work quite right and makes light bulbs REALLY bright but short lived.

Luckly a friend had a spare generator that he loaned me and it is working great! Unfortunately cable is down so there is not much to watch on TV.

Luckly it is a beautiful here and we are going to go for a ride. I don't know what the unfortunate part of that statement is yet and I do not want to speculate.....  ;D

The moral of the story is that others may need a fob to ward off evils that we cannot control directly.  I think I may take that bottle of Scotch away from Kirby and drink it myself.
