Title: Removal of bottom half of fairing.

I'm considering removing the bottom half of the fairing on my C 10 for the remainder of the summer here in Central TX. The rides home from work in the afternoon in 100 plus degree temps are roasting me alive and it looks like no relief from the high temps anytime soon. My question is would the mod make it alot cooler or are there any negatives I should know about? How is engine cooling affected? What is the best way to trim the inner part of the fairing as this will have to be cut.

Take it off, lots of connie owners do. It will not have any negative effect on the bike.  Not sure how you deal with the inner fairing on the newer models. The old style was in two pieces.

Mine have been off all summer here in Chicago.  Totally agree that it makes traffic much more bearable.  I removed the lowers, belly pan, air ducts and associated mounts.  I also removed the overflow bottle and mount and replaced it with the bottle from a 250 Ninja.  I fabbed a mount and put it behind the right side cover.  The hose easily reached from the stock location.

WARNING:

Inspect the main fairing mounting bolt located on the steering head. It is notorious for sawing through its tab. If it does the fairing will swing down onto the front tire with tragic results.

If you use parts for the 86-93 models you won't have to cut anything as the inner fairing is split.

Just and update on this mod in case others are considering doing it. It was kind of a mixed bag as to whether or not it is cooler. It depended on the wind and other factors. Some days it felt cooler, other days it did not. Our weather is going to be changing soon so the tupperware is going back on after the next oil change.
