Title: Shift problems: front bevel gear case removal.
Post by: cc_ryder on February 11, 2017, 02:33:02 PM
I want to inspect the external shift mechanism but my manual does not show how to remove the front bevel gear case. I have removed everything but the connection to the drive shaft housing.  Does any know how to or have a manual that describes the procedure?

any ideas? My bike has developed an oil leak from the bevel box area, oil is dripping onto the exhaust and smoking me alive!  :o
I can get all the oil seals locally, but should I be watching for anything else?

After further reading I find I will have to remove the final drive, swing arm and drive shaft to remove the front bevel gear case. If you have a leak from that case you will need a manual to replace any gaskets.

That's bad news 😥
Ive cleaned up the external area with degreaser and detergent plus hot water, the oil is leaking from the bevel box gasket. Can I replace this gasket and oil seals whilst doing the job, without stripping the drive train? I do hope so !😤

Sorry Jacksdad. You will have to remove all of the drive train to get the front bevel gearcase off. I just did mine last week. It takes a lot of work but it is not rocket science.
