Title: Dream bikes
Post by: sgilbert14 on September 07, 2014, 07:17:36 PM
Now that I sold my 92 I am starting to plan for next year and the next bike. Interviewing for new jobs and will be launching my own company shortly so I hope that my next bike will be a nearly new comfy long distance bike and wanted to toss out what others find are there... last bike to own that could be a fun long, long distance ride...... I am thinking cruise, radio, ABS, adjustable windshield, and of course fuel injected. :feedback:

Have you ridden one Chet? If so, would love to hear a ride report.

Not yet, passed up an opportunity to ride the 1190 ADV R-twice-banker says no way in heck is it happening this year!  If I rode the bike I think I would end up with one, which would be quite the chore in the middle of the sure to happen divorce ;)

Still waiting on official word on the 1290 Super Adventure.  If it shares the same specs as the 1290 Super Duke I'm in.  I want/need a bike that is dual Sport capable, my GS has been built with a focus of off road, the 1290 will be more road oriented.

I want it all. I'm not hard core off road but I want to be comfortable riding Forest Service roads and unpaved passes to get to secluded camp sites and still be comfortable and have a blast riding a 1000 miles on asphalt to get there. The 1190 ADV R seems to be a bike that could do that. And now this 1290 Super Adventure, what's not to like? One of those may be in my future.

Sounds like you want the Vulcan Voyager.  Other than that, maybe the Triumph Trophy.

The voyager doesn't have an adjustable windshield, but I just bolt two onto the bike.  When I get to a destination where I am going to locally ride and need more air, I pull off the large touring screen and put it in my room.
