Title: Moving to Austin for 3 months, looking for good rides
Post by: Rhino on February 20, 2014, 11:22:18 AM
Got a new contract to work in Austin for 3 months. Looking forward to the end of this Colorado winter. I've ridden the hill country just west of Austin. Fredericksburg, Llano, Comfort, Boerne, Blanco and most of the small roads in that entire area. But will be looking for new stuff to ride. Would love to hear recommendations.

Head down to Junction area and the Three Sisters... don't see that on your list.  A good ride for good eats down to Mac & Ernie's in Tarpley.

I do this trip several times a year. It's a great Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon trip for me.
Friday is the best day for this. Just avoid the sisters on weekends, especially Saturday. There be too many pirate ships in those hill on the weekends, argh?

Ok maybe not the cabrito burger but this sounds pretty good to me:

Lemon-blueberry pancakes with maple bacon sausage and fruit 8.50

or this one:

Bacon waffle with maple bacon sausage and fruit 8.50

Any dish that starts with bacon can't be all bad.

The cabrito burger is excellent... There's a hole in a wall BBQ place in Hallettsville called Novasad's that does cabrito ribs w/ an excellent dry rub... muy good!
