Title: Todays ride
Post by: Son of Pappy on May 22, 2013, 08:22:55 PM
So, this morning started at 0315, soaked up some caffeine, filled the thermos and headed to our designated meeting spot!!  2 1/2 hours later there are these small white things falling out of the sky and the temp has dropped to 33 degrees.  When we arrive to the trailhead there is 6" of fresh, wet snow.

I had more video but the dern stuff kept plugging the lens.  One spectacular off ended up as a white out ;D

Have I mentioned I love my job?  Oh, wait, I forgot, I'm retired and choose when I work ;D

Once upon a time maybe, but sad to say Chet that just not look like fun anymore.  :-\ How many times did you have to pick it up out of the snow?

3 times, one front tire slide on a root, next root I was ready, lofted the front and didn't get off the throttle quick enough, back tire slid, hooked up and we did a little dance.  Right wrist got hit by the hand guard, seems I may have been trying a hand stand?  All I know is the landing on my back was remarkably soft, I thought, wow, that was EASY!!  When I got back to the staging area I took off my camal back and it felt awefull light--opened it up and I had burst the seal.  First time that's happened :)
Last off is captured in the vid, as I was rounding the switchback the lack of snow caught my eye and I found my target :o :o
There was an amazing amount of traction as the ground wasn't frozen underneath.  Can't wait to go there this summer, deep snow stopped us from reaching the lake.  What a hoot 8)

Give me a two-stroke and a fish-n-pole, I'm there. Snow, I'll go hibernate next to a fire with beer.  :chugbeer:

Methinks I will be in snow in June as well, somewhere around say 12-13000 feet ;D ;D
Just got done mounting up my freshly built forks on the GS from Konflicted Motorsports.  1st step in fixing the only true flaw on the F8GS.  Next up when the funds are available will be the Touratech Extreme rear shock.  It's all downhill from there :)

It does look cool. I'm glad we aren't getting snow. We are stuck in the 40s though.
