A big thank you to the very nice and very friendly Fayette County Sheriff Deputy, that gave my buddy Steve and I a warning today instead of a speeding violation. That was almost an expensive ride today......YIKES!!!! Steve probably didnt need to pull over with me, because he passed by Steve to get to me!!!! I had just passed a slow car that wasn't even doing 55, but I went by her ever so briskly.... said he clocked me at 71. He was like "it would be ashamed to ruin such a beautiful day for riding with a $200 ticket, so I am gonna give you a warning instead". I informed him immediately that I was carrying and where my piece was, he thanked me and said, "doesn't worry or concern me a bit, if a law abiding citizen is carrying and it were to bother an officer, they shouldn't be in law enforcement." So he went back in his car and wrote us up the warnings, and then he actually chatted with us for a bit, shook our hands and told us to be careful going home and to behave.

Similar thing happened to me last week, I was returning a pistol to a guy, some doofus was doing 28 in a 35, county road, I complete the pass, hit maybe 45, back in lane, down to speed limit when this nicely parked car got really colorfull. I waited for him to pull out, put he stayed put ;D ;D First for everything I reckon. 2 miles down the road back in the day was one of my favs as it was almost deserted with a tree nursery on one side, and berry fields on the other followed with nothingness and than a small remote airfield. Perfect to blow out any carbon buildup ;D ;D Nowadays it just aint safe to exceed the limit, someone scattered house seeds and they took root.

The cops pulled Chuck Norris over for speeding once....
... He let them off with a warning :o

Nice! That's the kind of LEO encounter I can say thank you and really mean it. Not just for letting you slide on the ticket but for respecting your 2nd amendment rights. Unfortunately there are many who don't.

One very kindly officer stopped me once and gave me a warning. This was particularly handy because my speedometer cable was broken so I had only the haziest idea what speed I was going.

I've had two or three instances when the TX DPS officers either just flashed their headlights at me or briefly hit their reds and kept driving. All I had to do was wave that I saw them and appreciated the warning. It's nice living out of the metro areas.

My experience with law enforcement has always been positive, allot has to do with your attitude and honesty.

Pokey, I was on Rt. 315 in Delaware a few years back and literally was chased down and yelled at by two cops who I think thought I was someone else. And like you said, I am always polite, hands on my windshield, helmet off, license, registration and insurance ready and nuetral in all my answers. After he got it out of his system he told me to go home. Glad it turned out ok for you.
