ZOW! That's moving right along! My nephew was there (at the Texas Mile event) a few years ago and saw a Lambo crash at over 200 mph.

And who said women don't have balls??? :yikes:

I was there for that one.
This year it was car 414 seen in the above picture (black camaro). Billed as the worlds fastest Camaro, had hit 260+ in the mile there and was a Tx Mile Favorite. I ran behind him last March and he does put on a show with 2800hp and an inspection sticker/license plate! :o This year it rolled and burst into flames.

I am amazed that you can get 2,800 hp out of a 441 ci engine.

Sad about the Camaro. Looks like he did an outstanding job on the roll cage and it saved his life.

Top fuel dragsters get from 8500 to 10000 hp out of an engine about that size. TBO (time between overhaul) about 10 seconds.

And it takes 900 hp to drive the supercharger.

A lot of impressive stats in that article but the most surprising stat for me was this: "The downward thrust made by the exhaust gases escaping the headers alone generates 800 pounds of downforce." That is a LOT of thrust. One of the jet engines in a Lear 23 produces 2700 lbs of thrust. The exhaust alone of the piston engine on a dragster produces almost 1/3 of the thrust of a Lear 23 jet engine. No wonder it takes 900 hp just to drive the supercharger.

I find it much more impressive that Jennifer Robertson went 214 at this event and 243.6 at the one in October, Which would make her the fastest woman in the world on a motorcycle. As far as I can tell anyways.
