Title: Harley XR1200X?????
Post by: wrichstrom on December 27, 2012, 05:07:19 PM
I am definitely not going to get rid of my 2012 Concours.  If anything it would be a second bike.

But the internet speaks volumes about how great the XR1200X is.  I wouldn't use the Sportster for trips, but around town it could be okay.  The dealer is going to try and sell me a 2011 trade in he is about to get.

Has anyone actually ridden one?  Is it inferior to our C-14 in town type of riding?  Any thoughts?  Also I think these sold for around $11.5K and what would you pay for a great condition that is only two years old?

Thanks to all in advance!

I guess it is admission into the club, but will it be respected?

Its acually one of the few Harley's that appeal to me visially.  But just sitting on it was enough to tell me I'd never own one.  The seat was rigid and way to thin and squared off to be comfortable even sitting still, and the riding position felt....awkward at best.

Agreed.  Some of them can be made to be pretty sick looking.

This is as close to a real motorcycle as Harley has produced in my opinion, and is sure to be a collectible.

I am a fan of them for sure.

80hp?  ::) Low 12s in the 1/4 mile at best? ::) They market it as a performance bike and it would get killed by any of the 600cc sport bikes. couldn't come close to any of the 1000cc standards in performance. Collectible? Maybe as it was a stretch for HD to try to appeal to the performance oriented.
They quit making them because they sucked at what they were supposed to do.

Not about speed and HP, they handle very well for what they are. I think they are cool and unique, look good, and ride and handle very nicely from what "all" the moto mags said. Riding is about having fun and enjoying yourself, I could really enjoy myself on that bike no doubt.

I like them and have ridden one.  Handles pretty good.  But I think I would be waiting for the new Honda CB1100 (I think) to come out.  I think that is going to be a nice standard bike.

It's the only "normal" bike in the HD range.
Not bad, but heavier than the Buell.
It was produced to meet European taste but, as far I can see, it's seems out of 2013 range...  :(
I saw very few, if none, on the roads here in Italy.
It was part of the glorius sport past of HD, but not in line with the "custom" expectations of a potential HD Customer.

If you find one, it should be a fairly ggod bike, though.
At least you can curve and don't scratch the pegs!  ;D

If I was going to rock a Hardly-Ableson, that would be THE one (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/bigthumb.gif)
